Good, glad that's cleared up then.

So, Sharon Laws. Why hasn't she been selected to ride for *any country that she could possibly represent, which as I understand it, is pretty much England*, given her excellent form this season?

Alan, throw me a bone here.
Maybe it's because she's 40 and they are favouring youth (as evidenced by the men's team)

Surely the bigger question is what was up with the utterly bizarre selection for the womens road race team at the last World Championships? Only entered 4 out of 6 riders and then took Armitstead, Colclough, Garner and Cyclocross's Harris leaving experienced road riders who could have given support to Armitsead.

there isnt really a TeamGB womens road programme, so TeamEnglands setup is likely to be even further behind, I dont know I wasnt surprised by the selections myself.

the Wigglettes didnt do badly on the course last year in the Nats filling the podium positions behind Lizzie (who youd assume the team is built around to take the win for) though Jo Rowsell youd assume is targetting the ITT really like Dowsett not the road race.

Hannah and Lucy youd expect to be able to mix it up and have form so maybe a plan b if it all goes abit wrong like the Worlds/Dehli etc etc seem to always go. so it would have to be Emma Pooley youd swap out, but youd think Emma can do just as good a job as Sharon at disrupting, making breaks, strong climbing, so I dont know what does Sharon give you for the team, that none of the riders who were picked dont?

maybe its lucky Emma Trott retired as well as Im sure she'd have in the team for sure too
  • They're certainly favouring youth. according to those stats , Joanna Roswell is 16

I went for a spin round the Commie Games Time Trial course today before heading of the LeTour.

    http://www.strava.com/activities/160504016

    KM 6.8 - 56.6 with silly detours.

OAFT - I had not realised how sadistic the course creator is. She's lovely, but she's a frigging sadist.

I knew it went from sea level up to Moodiesburn then back down again, but I didn't realise that she had made it divert to every nearby incline she could find.

If I had the choice, with the exception of Glasgow Green and the big screens, the best places to watch are either

Golden Pheasant at top of Stepps Rd Climb Auchinloch,
    or

the 13% climb at Stoneyetts Rd Moodiesburn looks like it'll be party central. Lots of nearby houses, sweeping drag with views, kids play ground etc
    or,

Hogganfield Loch where you get to watch them climb the 11% at Royston Rd and watch them power home along Cumbernauld Rd. Lots of activities for the kids.

Wiggans should easily win this by over 3 minutes.

    Duplicate post.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

    Not riding the ITT. Confirmed.

    Also not riding the IP.

I suspect talk of him having broken the IP world record in training was just that.

oh ffs. I stuck a fiver on him for Sports personality of the year @ 201.00. The thinking was that if he cleaned up at the commies and win gold in the worlds TT he would be a good shout given the lack of other successes and all the soap opera shenanigans garnering him an organised sympathy vote of sorts.

    Le sigh.

McIlroy, Hamilton and Farah - top three (not necessarily that order though). Hard to think of anyone else.

Hamilton was my worry, but I was betting on the nation's bicyclists to get all sentimental.

At least I'm still just about up on le Tour. Hopefully AG2R hang on team classification and one of Bardet, Peraud or Pinot podium.

At one time I thought Wiggo might be going for 3 golds at the Commies. It would seem he is just riding the track to prove to himself that he can.....before prepping for his main target - World's ITT.

I'm sure India have better things to spend their money on then helmets, but you'd still expect them to better equiped than the Mamils at the local club 10… Good luck to them.

Your explanation makes a lot more sense than mine, although I'm surprised he has the upper body strength!
