Commonwealth Games
With the news that G is to ride the RR and TT at in Glasgow, just wondering how people think the home nations' squads will shape up.
So used to thinking of "British Cycling" that my brain gets fried when I bring in the Welsh, English, NI, and Scots as separate riders.
Back to G - no idea if he can win the RR or if he'd be riding for a fellow Welshman. As for TT - if Wiggo shows up then a race for minor placings seems the default position for everyone else.

You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

Guesses at home nation line-ups:
IoM: Cav as leader, supported by li'l Pete, Mark Christian, Joe Kelly
Scotland: Holy David, supported by Andy Fenn plus (need to do my research)
Wales: G, supported by Luke Rowe, Jon Mould, Owain Doull
England: Stannard or Swifty, supported by Edmondson, Yates x 20 -
Wales are the home nations danger team IMO.
Andrew Roache will also be riding for the IOM with Johnny Bellis in the endurance track squad.0 -
Cycled the TT route the other day, should be fast. some good corners.
Millar could do well, dowsett or Wiggins would need to be favorites.
In terms of the RR can't see beyond Cav, someone would need to go on the hills, there is a big one near the end 7.7%, they big ringed it last year.0 -
Evan Oliphant for Scotland?
Edit: apparently he has already qualified though I don't know what the criteria is.

Slightly OT. When I saw that G had entered the TT, it got me thinking. Why does he have to enter it? Surely he needs to be selected for the team first(probably a given!) and then be allowed to ride. Fairly sure that I've seen similar statements elsewhere about these type of comps including the Olympics. Just seems odd. In athletics you don't have to enter a event, you have to hope to be selected for the team first. Is cycling odd in this respect?0

surprised there is only 5 guys in the road race team, you are allowed 6. Strong team nonetheless, do you know anything about the supposed deal between the manx and the scots?0 -
Scottish rider inline for the track given 6 month ban.
Oxiliofrine in his system from an in competition test. from a supplement he admitted taking.0 -

Everyone said that last time and it was completely flat then. It was a good race. It mainly depends whether he has any professional support from outside the Isle of Man - last time Millar was helping, but that was it.0 -
If the Aussies decide to take it seriously they can easily work over a team like the IoM.0

Just what I was about to say.
I demand an alliance between the home nations to fend off the convicts0 -

Away from the obvious crown territories and countries, Darren Mathews of Barbados is a rather decent cyclist. He was looking better than the Guadeloupeans before being fucked over by the BCU and may not even be picked.0 -

I found the PDF and he has already served the sentence. Was back dated, so I suppose inline to make the games still.0 -

[Happier than a pig in muck] I have just been confirmed as doing the on site commentary for the Road Race, Time Trial and Triathlons [/Happier than a pig in muck]
ProRace Forumites I need your hive mind to make me not look stupid. Give me as much pre race information and punditry as possible.
On race day I'll talk about whatever you tweet / post here ;-)0 -
Excellent, we can start a thread moaning how crap the commentary is. Don't be offended, it's a Bike Radar tradition unless you are Flemish.0

No Gerrans for us Aussies?
Is there a story behind that or just that they'll be knackered from the Tour>Turned out nice again!0 -
Think it's the latter. The ABC's also tilting towards that in their reports.0

Cheers, will check out the SMH.Turned out nice again!0

http://www.commonwealthgames.ca/news/sixteen-cyclists-represent-canada-glasgow-2014.htmlThe one remaining spot on Canada’s 16-athlete quota will go to road specialist Leah Kirchmann (Winnipeg MB), who has been having a breakout season with a string of top placings in international events, including the recent Women’s Tour in the U.K. Kirchmann will contest the Individual Time Trial alongside track endurance athletes Glaesser and Brown. These three will be joined by Roorda for the road race to make a four-rider team with a legitimate chance of a medal.
The men’s road events will be contested by the track endurance riders. Bell, Hamilton and Veal will race the Individual Time Trial. All five riders will do the Road Race where Bell, who is 2013 Canadian Road Champion, has a shot at a podium finish on the technical course, which includes several short climbs that suit Bell’s profile.

I'm guessing yes so well done Ozzy (although I'm disappointed to find out you aren't really called Ozzy )
The Welsh women's team is very talented but also very young. Hopefully Hayley will follow in her mum's footsteps and win a medal. The track team includes two members of the Saddles family (no MTB squad by the look of it or it would be 3) and the women's squad in total includes 2 current and 1 ex Abergavenny RC member with who knows how many world and junior world medals between them0
