Well, time caught up with me yesterday, so I thought I'd do st7 and 8 first thing this morning.
I completed stage 7 with 30 mins spare, and found it hard work, at over an hour and a half long. Strangely, it didn't register on the Tour webpage, even though my career updated, so I emailed Support.
Has anyone spotted the deliberate mistake yet? 95 mins v 70 mins?
Yep, I've only just gone and ridden st 7 from the 2013 tour. What a prize pillock......

And yes, congrats to all who completed what was a tough tour.

    Cheers,
    MarkP

That's a bugger MarkP, how did you manage to do that with the fancy new front end?

Really pleased with my finish today, PB's @ 10's and 2 minutes (both due to the final sprint) Legs are completely fried, don't want to touch Nesquik or malt loaf again. Really looking forward to a decent break before I get back on with the Century program, only about a month to go before the Dartmoor Classic which is about 50% longer than anything I have ever ridden before.

Quiet enjoyed it and well done to those who completed it.

I'm tackling Stage 8 a bit later on tonight. Stage 7 yesterday was a tester for me. I bumped my ftp up to 160 before I started and after 10 minutes thought I wasn't going to finish it. A few weeks ago I was failing to complete workouts at 138 ftp so things are moving the right way.
Not sure if I'll buy a jersey - depends how much it is and I don't really like the colour.

Just finished the final stage. I did last years prior to getting ill and this years was a real challenge having only been back on the bike for 11 weeks following an 8/9 month hiatus.

My stats for the challenge; 1018TSS, 5230KJ, 9hr 54mins on the trainer and 28 personal records (1 broken ANT+ stick and 3 trips to borrow my mother's washing machine).

I did Stage 8 fairly late last night and I feel wiped out this morning, although it's a general tiredness and my legs don't feel too bad. It was a tough test especially towards the end.
My stats for the challenge are : 8 rides, TSS 973, hours 9.9. Kcal 4641. Double my previous weekly highest TSS.
Rest day today and then the club 19.5 mile TT tomorrow night where I'm hoping to go under the hour.
Great challenge. Looking forward to the next one
  • Well, completed, but I do feel trashed. I dragged myself through stage 8. Thanks go to TR team for some excellent customer support. I will be wearing the jersey with pride!
    Never mistake motion for action

Tell me about it! How did I do it? - as I said, by being a complete pillock. However, the word was that I wasn't the only one, apparently!
Anyway, the good news was the TR guys allowed that stage to count, so I did get the finisher medal after all. :D
It's been a tough week, but I really enjoyed it, and I'm sure it must have been of some training benefit.
    Roll on the next one!

    Cheers,

Completed here as well :) Due to work commitments in the week and also not being able to complete Sundays on Monday morning I ended up doing Stage 7, had a 15 min break and then back on the Turbo and did Stage 8. Jesus that was a slog. Not just effort but as you cannot move about as much on the road, stuff was going numb.

Glad I did it. The other half completed it as well. Looking forward to getting the link for the Jersey. Going to do the Sufferlandria next year.

Blimey, that's a monstrous thought - both at FTP and 100%? If so are you sure you're human? :)

I found stage 8 a real tough one, as a few of them have been on this tour. Good efforts by the OP there, the rides are up on the TR website.

I think I might do another FTP test next week, to see if I've had any gains at all.

Anyone buying the jersey, $73 dollars at today's rate is about £45 plus any import duties and handling charges by Royal Mail?

Thinking about it, I am just a bit worried about sizing. Reading around the quality is supposed to be pretty good.

Should be just VAT and handling charges to add so probably looking at somewhere around £60 all in. There is a sizing guide on the website thankfully. I'm still mulling it over..

We have to work pretty quick on this guys/gals as the 28th is fast approaching but I have been in touch with TR to see if they can ship the jerseys in on one order and then I could distribute them to you guys from here. This could potentially save us all some cash. Liz from TR is just going to check that Jakroo are happy to do this. So if you could post on here if you defo want one as they will have to be paid for up front. I will keep you all posted with any further info I receive.

That's really decent of you but are you sure you aren't going to get hit with import charges and you haven't underestimated how much it will cost you to ship them in the UK? Don't get me wrong I really appreciate the offer , I just don't want you to get stung (I have previously importing books for a forum I run)

Firstly that's very decent of you, most people wouldn't give a s##t as long as they got what they wanted. I did think about this myself but am unsure where I can find the information from, any ideas?

Jakroo have said they can ship up to 5 jerseys for $12, 10 for $20 and 15 to 20 jerseys for $30

It's been a while since I've done an FTP test and after last weeks torture, an easier week this week I've just the Rubber Glove FTP test. Suggested FTP up to 307 from 285.

My legs have felt great when out on the road this week.

I bought the shirt in the end and it arrived yesterday via Fedex. No VAT or customs charges thankfully. I went for the race fit and it's very snug, in fact I'd call it pretty much a perfect fit. Looks nice and seems well made. Club 10 tonight so I'll see how comfy it is.

Mine arrived yesterday too and pleasantly surprised at no VAT and custom charges :) Race fit for me too in a medium which fits great.

Not a fashion expert but good quality jersey with the added bonus of a security pocket. Will be wearing mine on Sunday at the Etape du Sussex in Burgess Hill (SRS Events)
