I'm surprised Bernie has never been national champion.

Horrible crash into telegraph pole, the circuit would never get through a risk assessment!

They mentioned the amateur sportive yesterday was a mass of crashes and injuries too, I'd have hated to be part of that.

Can't see how putting thousands of unskilled wannabees on these roads would cause a problem.

What the hell?? Don't they at least have a guy with a flag or something in front of islands like that?!

Impossible to cover every island. It needs some common sense by spectators though, like in rallying when people watch on the outside of a bend.

Ah, common sense... It took spectator deaths in Rallying (Portugal 1986) for anything to happen. Cyclists should only use the road & speccies shouldn't step on to it. But how do you enforce it?

Really turning it up on the front of the peloton: stringing out as they get toward the Kwaremont for the second time.

By statute. Punish offenders and they'll soon learn

The racing has started I think! Saxo and Astana on the front for some reason.

Belgium must surely have the worst road furniture in Europe for bike races.

Leaders time slashed in half in a few kms. Sky blocking for Eisel but their gap is small.

I'm going off Hatch, who said Vanmarcke was out but he didn't appear in the list of "outed" favourites. Hatch just said he'd spotted him.

I blame Kirby - he definitely crashed and was shown standing around holding his neck / shoulder. Thought they said he'd gone off to hospital.

Looks like no hope for the these breaks now. Question is, will Cancellara attack when they are caught? Haven't nseen him that much in the race which means he's been staying out of the wind
