I wouldn't be surprised if vetch was right about it being a write off.
Carbon can take one impact up to its breaking point from then on it's compromised.
I know more about Lotus Elises, which have a bonded aluminium tub. If they have any accident where the tub is creased then Lotus say the tub can't be repaired. So it someone hits a kerb too violently and the front suspension mounts are slightly bent the car becomes a write off.
Now some people do repair them - quite successfully but the repairs are not Lotus approved. Many people have come unstuck buying cat C or even Cat D repaired ones that should have been Cat B.0 -

This guy makes a considerable amount from videos. They are a bit Marmite, some love them and some get really upset by them, but they all seem to love watching them.
Maybe good footage but a silly topic. Taxing the rich more is counter productive.
Its a fact that the more tax you pay the more people look to get out of it. Raising tax to levels above 40/50% is foolhardy and a total waste of time but thats been done here to death.Living MY dream.0 -
Errm, the name is more than a little tongue in cheek. You probably realise you have to be rather wealthy to have toys like that.0

I totally get that. Have an F50 and an F40 here and they don't come cheap. My point was the link others will make to previous discussions. Sorry for the confusion.Living MY dream.0

Ah, they do get confused. He also has savetherich100, people have made comments that one is great and the other rubbish.
The video of a Miura SV going up in smoke is horrible. That's truly a shame to see such a beautiful and rare car destroyed.0 -
Nathan, have to say I think you're in the wrong on this one. There's no sign of anyone racing here, you just seem to be displaying either a prejudice to someone for having an expensive car or just jumping on it to wind up VTech. I disagree with a lot of what VTech says and agree with some (when I can decipher what I think he is saying!) but there's a few on here who just want to argue with anything he says. It gets a bit tedious to be honest.0

but luckily it very hard to spin an Elise on the road :oops:0 -
Funny how they say you can't repair a tub, but they allow you to bond new floors in as part of a recall. :?0

The cameraman is waiting for the arrival of the plastic car but does not turn the camera to see it arrive, unusual, instead is pointing the camera at the car that is already pulling out at an incredibly slow rate, the plastic car does not see this slow moving vehicle, does not brake, so the expensive car gets written off, and the owner gets the insurance, the cheap car loses his no claims bonus and as Vetch points out someone makes a gazillion pounds as the clip goes viral. Easy to set up and carry out.

If you knew the owner you would realise that money is the last thing he needs. I find it quite funny anyone would suggest or even remotely link it to an instance claim.Living MY dream.0 -

I'm thinking of buying a Fiat Panda 100hp job - any opinions? Pimpable? I think they look cool with the standard wides.
Naturally I'll be driving Cadillac in my dreams, but as I don't suffer from post code envy I think the Panda will rock.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Most of those cars turn up in London either side of Ramadan. EVO or Car done a big spread on it last year. The SLS was the toy of choice at the time. If you can afford to fly your toy over for £10-15K for a drive down Knightbridge then I'm fairly confident that you wouldn't give a shi7 about £250K.
Let's face it, very few of the drivers of these cars buy them because they're petrol heads that love cars and driving. It's all about showing off and showing your wealth. Shows very little imagination on their part. Same as most people in the UK who buy Astons when they have a win on the pools (or are meth dealers)…...“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. Couldn't be further from the truth. Guys in the middle east love cars and have a passion for them more than anywhere else I've been. Of course it helps if you have the money to buy them but to think it is just about wealth and how to show it off is crazy.
If you were broke I could imagine people eating the cheapest foods at supermarkets from the "value" range.
If you then won the lottery would you buy the same food ?
Blaming people (not the poster above but this forum in general) for having wealth is one of the most stupid things a human could argue.
Its a way of life and has always been the case and arguing about it usually causes wars which I've never seen to resolve anything.

Whether the driver of the Lambo was racing someone else or not, he was driving like a tw4t. There's another video kicking around of the Lambo driving away from traffic lights at a stupid pace, just before the accident.Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.

I drive the occasional fast car myself and I've often been flagged by passers by who think I'm speeding when I'm doing 20-25 in a 30 and 30 in a 40.

Why drive the cars in central London then? Why not in Yorkshire at Buttertubs pass and other 'drivers' roads, the UK isn't short of them? I was speaking to a Bentley dealer last week who makes a lot of money from people with the first name 'Sheik', who own stables in Newmarket. He said 'show' was often the primary concern, not 'go'.
I'm sorry, I absolutely love cars, I have since I was a kid and I wouldn't be posing around London if I was sat in super car royalty. No way whatsoever.
In another thread, VTech, you said you were 'self made' - good for you I say. I'm sure with that type of background you appreciate the cars you own and work on now. If Mammy and Daddy owned a few oil fields and you were born into billions would you appreciate those cars all the same?
I don't envy those with the means to buy these cars, but as a car lover it does 'bother' me that only a few people that own them will appreciate them for the engineering masterpieces that they are.“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. Several people on here have said that the Lambo driver was slow to react. It takes literally 1 second from the time the car starts to pull out of the junction to the point of impact, even with fantastic reflexes he would have struggled to even touch the brakes and the parked cars make swerving to avoid the car impossible. There must be some driving gods on here if they could have avoided that collision. Add to that it's left hand drive so visibility of a car coming out of a road on the right would have been marginally decreased by the passenger. There's only one person at fault here - if that had been a cyclist or motorcyclist rather than a sports car a) people on here would have been highly critical of the driver pulling out and b) the implications could have been a lot worse than a potentially written off Lambo.0

Well he pulled away slower than the motorbike, didn't get particularly fast but was being a bit of a tit as it looked like he was racing the bike and then had to brake quite sharply. Certainly not as bad as Matt was suggesting but not good driving in a congested city street.0 -
I have an Abarth 500 with a fancy (factory) exhaust and performance kit (factory). It sounds like a group B rally car pulling away - pops and bangs on the overrun too. I sounds 500 times faster than it is - there is a bit of that in the lambo clip too. Crashes always look and sound dramatic (any racers who have heard a couple of guys go down know carbon makes one hell of a noise!)Insert bike here:0

I agree, he probably got what was bound to happen if you drive through london at anything above half speed, we all know that. I was only pointing out that for those that say he was speeding and leave it at that to get some sort of reaction is a stupid thing to post.
I agree with what you said above about the car pulling out, I doubt anyone here would have had a different end result given the circumstances.
As for the jordan above, they go to london because most have properties their. it is relatively cheap to transport a car, I've done it for the gum ball a few times and it isn't the price that has been quoted on this forum or even close to it.
You see more super cars in london because more rich people reside there, it really is that simple.
You rarely find owners of super cars in council estates.

Vtech, you said Jordan couldnt be further from the truth...You are yet to prove him wrong.. am I missing something? Surely this doesn't prove that they have a genuine love of cars, opposed to a love of showing off?
There's a huge difference between a passion developed once you already have the subject of the passion, and developing a passion before you've aquired the subject...if that makes sense.0
