A Cabinet Office survey has revealed the most satisfying job in the UK is a vicar and that there is a link between earnings and life-satisfaction, some quite well-paid jobs are populated by those with low levels of wellbeing - and vice versa.....

As a mechanical estimator the closest thing on the list for me would be a QS at 234th out of 274, probably explains why I'm such a miserable tw@t
Where do you come on the list, any brickies or vicars here

+1
though if they paid me the salary listed I would be more miserable
Likewise, specifically the Chartered accountant one which surprised me a little (and I'm only just 24 in my first industry role).0 -

Not sure whether I'm 2, 45, or 89 so I'll take the option that raises Pinno's blood pressure the most :P"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

I thought I had a fairly cushy job until I just found out I'm only being paid about half of my "list value"
It's either b****cks or it really is grim up north!0 -
My job's a mixture of 3, 141, 175 & 181, which could explain why I'm happier some days than others I'm glad I didn't chuck it in to be a driving instructor now0

I'm a bit of number 32 as a sales account manager, but with a lot of 242 as a car parts salesperson. No wonder I'm confused. With a salary nearer to the lower of the two.
I came back to work at the company I had previously worked at for years for reasons of happiness. I was running the parts department in the workshops at what is probably the most prestigious main dealer in the country dealing with a range of exotica that would make Vtech soil himself. But I was being royally stitched up, I got sick with Hodgkins Lymphoma and the added stress of working for them really wasn't helping. My former employer asked me to come back, I told them I was having chemo and they still took me on. I'm working with people I like, doing shorter hours and am closer to home. I still get wound up when things don't get done right, of course I do. But I've been back here for nearly 10 years and wouldn't change in spite of my regular complaining. Quality of life is about so many different things, I'm actually a really lucky man.0 -

And my ears aren't bleeding as it was just blokes today.
I'm a miserable old git, but if I stop and think about it I'm doing alright.
Can I send you some more of our staff just to make it even better?0 -

Disappointed not to see Doorman on the list.
Oh well0 -
Took "voluntary" early severance mid January and have not done a thing to look for work since! My pension is a third of my salary, but this hasn't started to bite. If I could find a way to escape from the children's mother, I would attain true happiness.
Ps. Any ideas for work that a 54 year old could do would be gratefully received - before being dismissed out of hand!0 -

32, and I'm pretty happy with my job, although I'm not sure who selected the sample to get the mean salary.Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.
