True. It's been all down hill since The Holy Bible.0 -
Nirvana - The Man Who Sold the World
is, for me, is much better than Bowie's original.
The Stereophonics - The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
or Matt Cardle's version
are far superior to the original by Peggy Seeger, and also better than the more famous cover by Roberta Flack to which they are far more similar.
Eva Cassidy's cover of Fields of Gold is much better than Sting's original. Far more emotion and the tempo seems to fit the lyrics better.Hairy-legged roadie ( FCN 4 )

This is a bit different which I think adds to its appeal and I am certainly a fan!

Not saying this is better than the original, nor is it strictly a cover version. But brilliant.

Watching Stranger Things on TV the other week, they used The Bangles' Hazy Shade of Winter - I'd completely forgotten it but it sounds great now.

But Sweet Jane is the only cover Ive heard which really adds an entire other element to the original. Even Nirvanas "THe man who sold the world" cover of the Bowie song is just an homage, not a new idea.Fitter....healthier....more productive.....0 -

Gary Jules cover of "Mad World", originally by Tears For Fears. Totally different.
It's just a hill. Get over it.0 -
Live and Let Die - Guns n Roses. Got the grittiness of Axl Rose's vocals plus the superb shredding of Slash that give it the edge of the Wings original.
Green Manalishi - Judas Priest. A screaming Rob Halford and KK Downing on guitar gives this Fleetwood Mac track a metal edge.
I Love Rock n Roll - Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. I didn't even realise this was a cover (original by The Arrows). Classic track. Actually saw it performed live when she supported Queen at the MK Bowl.Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0 -
We Gotta Get Out Of This Place By Jello Biafra and DOA.
And, come to that, the version by the Animals as I didn't realise it was also a cover.0 -
