Hmm I wince every time I see one of those SMP saddles, there were quite a few Italians on them at the last VC Roubaix version of P-R so maybe they're more comfortable than they look?

When are we going to see this build?

Looks like I am picking the Legend up on Monday or Tuesday.

Just been reading through my 178 e-mails with Legend, 5 changes of colour scheme, 4 changes of group-set, 3 changes to wheels, 3 changes of bars and stem and its now 99% Italian. I kind of have the feeling I've ended up with the bike Ali wanted me to have from day 1.

I'm quite nervous, I gave my Madone 6.9 a complete service two weeks ago, new bottom bracket, wheel bearings throughout all new cables and new chain rings. It rides so well I keep thinking how can a bike be better than this!!!!!!

    The £5-6k budget got trashed...

Road cc tested the 7.5 and said in their opinion it was in the top 5 climbing bikes they had ever tested.

Actually, there are less comfortable than they look.

What colour did you go for in the end?

Base colour is a grey tint carbon finish, semi gloss accented with some bits of red and black to match the Miche Supertype/Campag groupset.

There does seem to be a bit of a hitch with delivery at the moment which is quite frustrating but I guess all good things come to........

I guess its an Italian thing but they seem quite relaxed about delivery..

Nice. I've seen the grey tint finish, it's very smart. Good choice, especially with the Miche Supertype. Their brakes are stunning

I have the option of a set of matching 80th Campag Bora Ultra 2 wheels to go with the bike but im concerned they may look good but not the best choice of wheel for performance.

Plenty of pros ride them and I'm yet to read from any of them that they consider them a disadvantage performance-wise against all the other 50mm tubs.

7.5, budget restrictions from the missus...lol. As I said I'm like a kid on Xmas eve...those colours "smug mug" linked above have helped a lot too
  • Bloody Hell, you could put your cut steerer on eBay and recoup a fair % of your outlay!

    (Awesome looking frame btw)

Congratulations bigcgilmour on your choice. Seems the HT7.5 gets very good reviews.

As far as I know its just the tubs that need to go on then mine is ready to pick up. Just in time for the London-Paris next week....

The steerer does seem a bit long, I hope he doesn't think I wanted a chopper he did try and sell me a set of cow horns..

bigcgilmour:- I came up with a few doodles of what I wanted gave it to ALI then his guy produced a visual. I then made a few changes to it and signed it off. Ali will probably give you a load of images of bikes he has produced and a link to some colour samples.

The flag has not been changed, it would mean sending it back to the factory. Ill wait to see how I feel about it in the flesh then maybe do something about it over the winter. I just wanted it smaller and central.

Absolutely stunning. Can i ask why you went for the Miche Supertype Chainset over - for example - the Super Record? I'm spec'ing a build now and have considered this. How do you find it with the SR groupset?

Wow, looks great, can you tell me what wheels/rims you went for? I'm struggling to get exactly what I want, but then I'm being fairly picky!?!

Well thanks, I don't think my phone camera does the paint job justice.

    Groupsets and Wheels....

The thing is, I read a lot of great reviews and each time the bike was set-up with the Miche Supertype chainset so I was wavering towards it early on. Originally I had decided to go for SRAM and although Ali at Legend didn't try to talk me out of it there was something about my conversations with him that made me wonder if anything but campag or Miche may change the way the bike rode. Then there was a niggling feeling that I may be doing the frame an injustice by putting SRAM on (for me shimano wasnt not an option).

The wheels are again Miche Supertype (358 RS)

I took the bike out for its maiden voyage this morning and I got off of it thinking "this is going to get some getting used to". Its extremely different than any other bike I have or have had, its aggressive and very responsive. The supertype brakes are out of this world, put my SRAM red and TRP 960's to shame.

I had planned to use it on the london-paris on Thursday but am thinking twice about it now.

djhermer Who is doing the build for you?
