If I ever had that kind of money to spend, that is the frame I'd go for! But with Campag obviously...

Look forward to seeing the pictures when it gets built.

Budgets are there to be blown.

The more I thought about the amount I have spent on stock bikes in the past and although relatively happy with them there has always been a couple of niggles on each bike.

Now I have to choose a colour scheme that will ensure the bike can be taken home without arousing unwelcome suspicion.

What kind of 'niggles' have you had with stock bikes?

At least with an expensive custom frame you won't have the need for any spacers under the stem. cool.

Make sure you post some photos.

I have liked all my bikes but A perfect bike would be the best bits of each bike put together, so I guess this is what I am now going to do.

I shall try and take photos and keep a thread going concerning the build, so you can all put your opinion forward and confuse me even more.

Something nice and understated about this one:-

The powder blue for me or the last picture also.

As good as it looks all new n sparkly, I'd be wary of going down the matt paint route just from what I've heard other owners comment on. It's tricky to keep clean unlike gloss/ satin finishes, and they seem to look old beyond their years after a while. Never owned one mind...

The "Gulf Racing", colour scheme is prob my all time favourite and no doubt they could replicate this for you. Are you able to customise the logos? Not overly keen on the typeface of the main "Legend", logo but hey I'm not buying :D

Had a De Rosa Merak once in the matt Vini Caldorola Team colours.
Best looking frame I've ever had and the matt finish wasn't that much of a pain, certainly not compared to how nice it was to own and look at.

How about one of them swift bikes like NFTO? Look cool :)
THe Madison Genesis frame is gorgeous too, and would fit in that price bracket :) I know it's extra weight, but so much more character!

That last image is my frame :D

The secret to keeping matt finishes clean is to use something like TF2. Spray a bit on a clean cloth and just wipe. Gets off brake dust, oil marks and general dirt etc

Just to add to your dilemma - when I was at the factory I saw a matt British Racing Green carbon tine frame with silver decals. Looked superb - reminded me of an Aston Martin for some reason!

You'll have all the paint samples to look at in the Factory, so you'll get a good idea.

And loving the last picture as well. Look forward to seeing more pics as it comes along.
Did you decide on the groupset and finishing kit yet?

I don't normally get too excited about frame colours, but that two tone blue is just stunning.

As far as groupset goes my initial thoughts were SRAM RED which I have on my current bikes but I would like to bring the group set colour into the bike, I have SRAM RED (yellow) on my trek and it looks good but maybe a bit dated now.

I have a slight dilemma as the plan was to go to Pisa for a fitting with Giuseppe next week but he wont be available then and not in the UK until the 28th but I am away for a month from the 27th.

Ali from Legend has asked if I would like to have a bike fitting in the UK or wait until Giuseppe is available.

I'm a very impatient person, but want this to be the best bike I will ever own..

Yes, surely the fitting has to be in Italy :)

And the groupset has to be Campag SR!!!

Although I agree it seems wrong to put on anything but Campag it means changing cassettes on existing wheels and then not being able to swap wheels with other bikes running SRAM and there is no way im going to buy a new set of wheels for this bike.....Ummmmmmmm

11 speed campag cassettes are the same as 11 speed shimano/sram so it seems like a good excuse to upgrade everything to 11sp

I like the blue one, and the two tone blue is nice but if it was me I'd want something that pricey to be shiny! Maybe a gloss lacquered version of the two tone blue, with highlights to tie in with the gruppo (red for Super Record, yellow for SRAM Red yellow etc)?

As above, if you're 11 speed then I think you can mix and match cassettes between the big 3 now. Ridiculous it has taken this long and for me that is the one reason I would consider going 11 speed at some point in the future.

You do realise you will need to get a second bottle cage to match ?!

I think you will now need to formally change the title of this thread.

EDIT - excellent name change !

Another dilemma, two legend cages, one legend one campag or two campag.

At least I think I now have a colour scheme emerging.

Do you think that the limited edition SR groupset is the way to go? My (slight) concern would be that if I had a prang and needed to replace parts such as crank arms or derailleur components, it would be much easier to 'mix'n'match' with the standard SR components which don't carry so much branding. This thought from recently having to replace my rear derailleur....

If you go powder blue, get a KMC "Bianchi" chain...

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/kmc-x11-sl-dlc- ... eed-chain/

And yes, I have seen a Legend in powder blue with that chain on!

I see where your coming from and I agree but I got a very good deal on the groupset not much off the price of standard campag SR . Also I built my last bike with the SRAM red (yellow tour edition) which I have managed to keep looking good apart from having to change the chain rings.
I still have handlebars/stem, seat and wheels to think about. I have the option of a set of matching 80th Campag Bora Ultra 2 wheels to go with the bike but im concerned they may look good but not the best choice of wheel for performance.

you do realise that Legend have their own custom handlebars and finishing kit? Depending on your colour choice you can get the Legend Crest painted in the same colour on their bars
