As a newbie I haven't mastered posting photo's but I'd like to take the opportunity to big up "my man" and good friend Russell Ellis who shoots much in the style of Gruber. Covered the tour, paris Roubaix etc for cycling weekly.

Some absolute clangers to be found there. Thanks for posting.Contador is the Greatest0 -
Geoff is excellent. I sold him one of my old Nikon D3's. He's still using it I think.
He's great. I bought this post-Roubaix Wiggins shot from him - last from the bottom here

Um, how is this thread going. Been away in Poland and logging in I see that there are zero photos posted, just some odd discussion and furthermore I have received another warning for reasons which completely pass me by. Hope you are enjoying the lack of photos on this thread.Contador is the Greatest0

Superb, and of course there's no need to photo a photo every day here as it's supposed to be 'Greatest' rather than 'everything someone has seen in the last 24 hrs' but we've been through that.
3 absolute monsters there - Hinault, Planckaert and Van Calster. Complete with sponges.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0 -

It is brilliant isn't it.
Even more interesting, as Foth explains, Maerten's who won the race can only be glimpsed via his shorts under Hinault's arm.
In the modern world of cycling with sunglasses and tinted visors etc you'll rarely capture such an image. It's literally eyeballs out0 -
Andre Gripel goes into the retirement home. 'Tis the greatest photo ever, until I see the next one...

Great photo. Any idea what is tucked away under the jersey at the top of their back?0 -

Probably the least stylish photo of Coppi ever but it tells the story of cycling in a different era. I always wondered what those small toilet type thingies were, now I know they are foot spars for cyclists!0 -

Yes I thought I'd seek it out. I'm mentally putting together my favourite six. So far I have
1.This Hinault/Planckaert sprint
2. The Pantani 98 Les Deux Alpes crucifixion
3. Tommy V having coffee feet up in yellow
4 will be some inspirational Spring Classic photo, probably on the cobbles of P-R or RVV. It's a difficult one because they are easy targets for emotive photos (cobbles, crap weather , grubby riders etc) so selection will be a long process
5 will be a track photo, I love watching track and road and again it is a very photogenic environment with mirrored visors etc so that is a slow burner
6 may well be one of an iconic bicycle no rider just one that encapsulates all that is good about pro race
so lots of photos yet to see!0 -

Brilliant photo. As the Peril says, conjures up a different era0 -

Just wouldn't happen for the big names now, although I love photography from Six Day events for the way the riders live.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0
