I'm guessing JRod is still ill...he rolled in down 7mins with Moreno.

    Phinney only four mins down.

AMAZING: Boonen only 2.5mins down on this tough climb.

"I know what I can do for, like, 20 minutes, and that was sort of my best curve on their chart. I can do between 430 and 450 watts for 20 minutes and I weigh 66 kilos [145 pounds], so whatever that divides to."

    ^ 6.5 - 6.8 W/Kg. Solid data for one's next pseudo seance.

A cyclist (pro or amateur) talking about what wattage they do is like an angler talking about the size of the fish they caught. Unless they have some evidence to back up their claims, it's best to knock 10% off.

Nizzolo wins for Trek. Some what sloping finish so Cavendish led out Boonen who came third behind Ventoso.

Quintana attacks from 10k and takes the win.

    Apparently.

Great effort from Yates. How is Gaimon's time trialling at this level?

Looking at Saturday's stage, it would seem likely that Quintana should be able to gain some more time on Gaimon.

Looking at CQ, his best place in the US Nationals is 16th, so I don't he's going to take nearly enough time (if any).

I cant believe this didnt get more interest from people on here.

Absolutely amazing display from Quintana. Just look at the time differences in that Top Ten. Great to see so many Col and Arg in there.

Quintana the unassuming escarabajo unleashed his firepower and desire to win right from the base of this unrelenting 10k, 7% climb with sections over 10%. Although joined for a small time by an Argentinian he quickly forged on and didnt stop increasing his advantage.

HUGE result from Adam Yates. I am genuinely ridiculously shocked by it.

Impressive again from Gaimon...not sure whether Tom D buried himself which is why he finished over 8 mins back...I would have hoped he could have stayed with Gaimon longer.

Don't worry about the TT...Quintana has years of palmares in this regard.

No idea what the hell JRod and Nibali are here for, I really cant....anyone? They are not putting any effort in at all - disgraceful.

Hard to get into a race with such poor coverage.

DS's and journalists are even tweeting each other to find out what is happening.

I wonder what the benefit is to a company sponsoring a race no one can see.

Yep. I watched the stage on Ceefax (stream). Hard to muster a post after watching the poor studio dupe miming to the operatic moto commentary.

Nairo suits a smile. If he does a decent TT I doubt he'll miss the Tour. Gaimon's post-stage Tweets:

It's frustrating, after a long winter finally two real races with a very decent field, and one is in the middle of the night and the other without live coverage.......

  • It really is so frustrating not to be able to see this race. I'd have given anything to have seen Nairo attacking at the bottom of that climb. And Adam Yates's ride (now 12th on GC!!)

    :(
