After the (hopefully) enjoyable Wales weekend we did this year, any interest in doing it again?

Sat / Sun 12th / 13th April

Plan is as follows;

Saturday, weather permitting - Snowdon, should take approx 3hr's up and down.
Then if legs are up for it, Penmachno or Coed y brenin for a quick spin in the afternoon.
If the weather beats us for Snowdon, we have options of Penmachno or Coed y Brenin, plenty of choice.

Saturday night, staying in the Glen Aber at Betws y Coed http://hotelsinsnowdonia.com/

Sunday - Antur Stiniog :)

Was awesome this year!! :D I'd be well up for it next year, thin snowdon and a centre is ambitious, Penmachno is bloody awesome but Afan/Cwmcarn and BPW would be sweet as well, not ridden Cwmcarn or BPW yet and the others are pretty close for me at uni, so the South Wales stuff appeals to me more. Would nice to ride Afan without having done 200-odd miles in the days beforehand!!

Depending on work or study I will play
  • It was fantastic fun this year, and I'd be up for it again!
I still want to ride Snowdon, as I keep being thwarted by the weather it's becoming a true mission! I too have a love for Antur, so am up for that, but will go with the flow.

Once we've figured out dates, I can then confirm. Sweeeeeeet!

    ^this
*edit: I can do those dates although I haven't yet been given the event dates for this year..
  • March might work better for me, but may be able to do either

April I reckon it should be then, seeing as it suits the (small) majority so far.

Personally, I think a Wales weekend needs to take in Snowdon, especially as we didn't manage to do it last year. Bearing that in mind and that it would then mean a 4hr drive down to south Wales ie BPW / Afan, I suggest we stay north. After tackling Snowdon, we'll be wanting meat, cake and beer, not a 4hr drive!
Betws y coed is close by, has lots of places to stay and lots of places to eat and drink, be rude not to stay there. I won't booking into a certain place beginning with Vag and ending with bond...

Saturday - Snowdon, should take approx 3hr's up and down, so it leaves time (if your legs are up for it) for another go at it as there are 2 clear options for the route down. Rangers/telegraph or Llanberis path.
Or, again if legs are up for it, Penmachno is just over half an hour's drive and is an absolute cracker of a ride. It's pretty much a figure of 8 loop, you can do half of it or the full loop. Say 11m vs 22m roughly. It's then 10 mins drive to Betws y Coed.

If the weather beats us for Snowdon, we have options of Penmachno or Coed y Brenin, plenty of choice.

    Sunday - Antur Stiniog :)

    OK?

I've done llandegla in 3 1\4. Snowdon is on worse roads. it's a least 3 hours to bettws y coed and then at least 1/2 an hour further to llanberis.

but you drive most of the way on the motorway.

Which was sort of my point. Couldn't you M5/0 it to get there quicker?

it's about the same, I've tried every conceivable route to north wales as I used to work there so often.

yep, that's the way I'd do it and when you factor in slow drivers, tractors etc.
  • I imagine it would take nearer 4 hours than 2. Well, depending on the date in April, I may be able to go, I'll have to see.

I think Snowdon then Penmachno, and then Antur on the Sunday :D I'll bring both my bikes this time!
