    ah.. not from 'lookatwheelitus' then
'Do not compare your bike to others, for always there will be greater and lesser bikes'
  • By hypnosis apparently ...

''Wiggins front wheel is your rear wheel ... Wiggins front wheel is your rear wheel ... Wiggins front wheel is your rear wheel ... '
  • Thats great news if true.

But according to Walsh's book 'Inside Team Sky', he states the eggs of this parasite can lay dormant in the lung, liver or even the brain long after the bug has been killed off, then they release another wave of parasites that have to be dealt with. So i hope he's cured or free of those as well.

Mind you, having said that, Walsh also stated Kittel rode for Lotto-Belosol at this years TDF, so maybe it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt, or antibiotics :-)

    Kittel's big, he's a sprinter, and he's German. What's your problem?

Oh oh, we've got, Froome, Walsh's book, Sky and an inconsistency in Walsh's book mentioned. Predict a locked thread is coming soon

Most patients have little understanding of their own disease. If this was made up as some seem to think, then there wouldn't be inconsistencies.

I am very pleased for him. That kind of stuff is not nice.
  • Huh, so now he was diagnosed in 2009? Yet he stated before he was checked by the UCI in november/december 2010?

But good for the guy he is finally cured.
  • Good news!

If only there was a health test performed by the UCI at races on RBC volume it may have picked this up.

Or some form of longitude testing program measuring haemoglobin Froome may have discovered or known when he had this horrible affliction much earlier or when it reoccurred.

    Oh wait... there is.

Due to these fluctuations of packed cell volumes and haemoglobin surely he would have been flagged for a passport fluctuation?

He'd have the hematocrit of a old lady!

I'll check Walsh's book if this is the case.

Look, Bilharzia for Dummies Vol II not published yet. What else can you expect?

    Oh noes.
Just when you think the parasites have gone they reappear having been dormant for a while. It's quite possible that they will never be fully cured.

Haematocrit itself is not affected by the disease in the studies I have looked at. Maybe you could provide a source please?

The interesting thing about blood tests is they tell you everything that is not right in your blood.

Oh, hang on, no they don't, they just look for the things they are looking for at the time. My mistake, I mistook it for one of those things they wave about in Star Trek that immediately tells them everything about a person's body.

You have 24 hours to leave the country. Do not attempt to re-enter the country for a period of 12 months minimum

One of the best things about BRPR is that we have people who genuinely know what they re talking about! Thanks Nic

WBT has great debating skills IMO. The anger always comes from elsewhere.

    It's an interesting hypothesis.

Both Froome and Walsh have said it "munches" on red blood cells and is "the reverse of EPO". Whilst you'd think that for immune issue would be WBC.

Nevertheless I'd be interested in seeing your studies and the non-effect to Haematocrit. Could you like them?

    True. For the most part.

But a blood testing program that looks for certain conditions, fluctuations under set parameters would indicate an "inconsistent" profile.

Therefore it would be assumed that Froome has been flagged by the passport program to explain his fluctuations, yes?

The program may not "diagnose" but it will "highlight" an issue for deeper inspection.

If schistosomiasis is the cause for his lower than expected performances then that would be indicated in his profile.

That's fairly straight forward. This is not a neurological issue but one of the blood.

Ok, well you've based that on what Froome and Walsh say (will take it you're quoting there). 'Munches on' doesn't necessary mean a significant level of red blood cells being destroyed though. Let's wait for some medical evidence here, it doesn't matter who posts it.

    I see.

So why the effect in Froome's performance? And once treated he realised his full potential at the Vuelta '11? No effect to RBC and haemoglobin?

    I'm not really following.

Could you link those studies when you get a moment?

I don't have the studies, but someone will come up with the medical information on here I expect, that will save joining the dots with conjecture in the meantime yeah.
