What used to be the Cars Thread

Well, ive really been enjoying looking through loads and loads of pictures of cars recently. Particularly cars from between 1950-1970 I thought id just started a thread that people can post pictures of cars that they think are good in any sort of way. Looks, history, experience, whatever it may be. Hopefully this thread catches on, and becomes a sort of collection of loads of nice cars.
I hope i havent made a mistake by posting this in the CC. I chose the CC because i think more people would contribute here
Ill start of. The Ford GT40 MK2. I wish that i would be able to see one of these one day. The story behind it is great too. Fords "revenge" for Ferrari pulling out of a deal, that almost saw Ford become owners of Ferrari. It is easily the most beautiful car ever made in my opinion, just wish that i could see one in the flesh. I used to be a Camaro fan, until i realized how good looking this car is. Performance wise, a 7.0 litre V8 isnt too shabby either!

GT - enjoy the link below, its a guy that is involved in the Lotus scene and one day made a comment about the Lambo Mura and basically got called an idiot for selling it, until he mentioned he had replaced it with something better.
His stories are all about either women or cars, you will love them

Preferably with the original Daisy

Would have been better in the relevant section, but this for me is the best looking car ever:
Ferrari 250GTO.0 -
I guess so, made the wrong call! Not a bad shout that. But i think the 250 GT California is better looking. Best looking Ferrari though in my opinion is the F40 C.0

And the jag of course.:

Yes, it always has to be the convertible E type. The hardtop version is really ugly IMO. The Eagle Speedster version looks even better i think.
Btw, is it okay if i can re make this thread in The Hub?0 -
250 fan here.....
current wifes uncle has just completed a 250SWB build - ready to race and has a 250 lusso that he already hill climbs

I'm sure SS can move it. But I won't mention your mom.
The GTO is lovely but too pretty. Like matthew h this is my favourite.

I actually forgot about the Lusso! First time i saw one (not in real ofcourse) was on a calendar my dad brought home last year. It was in that gorgeous Ferrari blue, just like this one.
Since we are on the topic of Ferraris, we cant forget the Dino. Ive seen one, i was lucky enough to see it with the engine being worked on at the time, it was gorgeous! It was in the corner of a garage where my dad used to get his card MOTed. Pictures just dont do it justice.

As someone who loved rallying, let me pitch in a few of my faves
Lancia Stratos - the only best looking car ever, best in Alitalia colours of course
MkI Escort in 'gold leaf' colour scheme, forest arches on 13" Minilites
Red Mini Cooper 'S'
Citroen SM (Drove like shite) yes they used to rally that - nuts
Saab Sonnet (go Google it!)
Porsche 911RS (in stupid wide tyre tarmac spec)
Alpine A110 in Renault blue with panels so thin you could see daylight through them
Left field choice would be a Simca Rallye, on tarmac they were completely and hopelessly outpowered yet with a total "brains removed at the startline approach" to driving style they managed to hang on to the tails of much faster cars.
From slightly later
Ford RS200 as the best looking GrpB car
Metro 6R4 as the most mental looking GrpB car
BMW M3 but only with Marc Duez at the wheel the sound of one on a rally stage was unique and boy were they quick if they could find any grip - which wasn't often.
Subaru Impreza in wide arch WRC spec
I still have a soft spot for the original Sierra XR4x4......the V6 was hopelessy untuneable (215bhp from 2.8 litres, about what Audi got from the 2.3 Audi Coupe engine!) but they sounded great!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
A mix of original rally cars & new road cars - from a rally I navigated on in Corsica..... happy memories

Regarding old rally cars I always like the Lancia Fulvia. I'm generally an old car nut, just as well as I work with them.
Take a look at this video of a Ferrari 288GTO being driven like it's stolen. The thing that makes me laugh is he keeps getting slagged off for fitting a Fram oil filter. Fram are OE on most Ferraris. He's got loads of other videos, the Rolls Royce one created a huge kerfuffle. This one of a Miura is enough to make me weep. The opening shot is of the place I used to work a few years back, he picked the car up from there having just bought it. The car barely made it a mile.0 -
The Rookie, nice picks there. Especially the Alpine and the Stratos. Alpine Renaults are so nice! My uncle just finished a two year rebuild of one of these. He did it all from home, even the respray. I loved the drive he gave me in it. Accelerates like a monster and put a massive smile on my face. His is the same blue but with these wheels, polished aluminium. He has to wipe them down after every wet drive. Haha
Veronese, ive never really taken a liking to the Lancia Fulvia, but here is a photo of one i took at the Enfield Pageant of Motoring a couple of years back

I have always wanted one of these:
