This thread just keeps sailing closer and closer to the wind, I'll give it until the end of the day before it gets deleted or locked"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"

I'm outta here... Couldn't bear the disgrace of a three day ban... Shunned by the neighbours, divorce courts, homeless, on the streets, drinking maths (that should be meths)0

Yeah, you've let yourself down, your parents down, but most importantly, you've let me down.Superstition sets the whole world in flames; philosophy quenches them.

People who have installed such software may have problems playing some Youtube vids, the ones where the ad appears at the bottom of the screen, for instance. They may need to go into the settings and tell the program to allow ads from the YT domain.
If I had installed such software, that is what I would do.0 -

If I had installed such software, and played quite a few vids but not found any problems at all, I'd mention it here in case anyone was worried.Faster than a tent.......0 -
If the ads were remotely relevant to the site I wouldn't mind too much. Ads from bike companies or shops for instance or even cake companies (Hmmmmm.....cake....) but car tyres and computer games, on a cycling forum?0

The thing is internet ads have never worked for me as I ignore all of them and do not buy any of these products anyway. All they do is get in the way. Ads a re fine but not one the scroll the screen for you and follow you about on the page. That is going to far.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0

I suppose if they really annoy you, you could click on the 'About us' link at the bottom of the page and contact someone directly?0

Been ignored many times.
Accept that the ads are not going away and act accordingly.None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -

It's pointless using the 'About Us' link, the mods have confirmed that it is not their responsibility and that people need to contact Future Publishing, so here we go (borrowed from someone else's post in 'Discuss with the Team');

It's upto you which one you choose to contact from the above"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"

That software that nobody's using seems like it might solve all our problems. Maybe.0

And while you're there, tell them to inform whoever took those portraits that trying to create "selective focus" with software never works. (Buy a decent lens and learn how to use it!)0 -

All you need on a PC is some software that blocks the 'offending items' installing on your browser, been mentioned before and very simple to do, apparently"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. Of course, the really poor thing about this is this: we can accept that adverts pay for the site and that we do not. So, within reason it is fair enough for the publisher to expect us to put up with the adverts as per the thread title hijack. However, as we all agree, the adverts we are having inflicted on us are not within reason so therefore it is entirely fair of us to block them.
What isn't fair is that the adverts are also blocked for those sites that do behave unreasonably - ie those ones that understand that a happy site user might respond positively to subtle advertising rather than negatively to overwhelmingly obtrusive adverts. I'm always suprised how often big businesses have no judgement at all when it comes to their assets. It's all a bit Gerald Ratner.Faster than a tent.......0 -

A blocker for ads you might say. Imagine if someone created one with a really easy name that did exactly what it says on the tin and could be found by a simple Google search for something like 'blockerad'0 -
Be more catchy if they put the "ad" before the "block".....0
-
Ads don't "pay for the site".
That's nonsense.“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
Nice move!None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0

I'd rather pay £10 a year or something than have Malaysian Airways shoved up my a*** everytime I log in.
The other option is relevant to user ads - happy to see a flash add for discounts for bike related stuff.
Chances of me flying Malaysian air ? nil0 -

Oh the irony.....Where initially A dblock Plus would block all advertising, it now operates using a whitelist - a collection of, so far, around 150 sites and services whose ads are allowed through the filter.
To get on this whitelist, the advertising has to meet several fairly strict criteria: no animations, don't get in the way of reading text, and don't take up more than a third of a page's width, plus various other things.
Sensible parameters on the face of it, but here's the bone of contention: for "big" companies that want to be on the whitelist, A dblock Plus demands they pay a fee.
"Large companies that significantly increase their profits," explains Mr Faida, "In return support us to make the initiative sustainable."
If that fee isn't paid, advertising is blocked, even if it fits the "acceptable" criteria.
Pay up, in other words, or A dblock Plus will knock-out some of your revenue.0
