    Evening. Quiet innit.

    Tumbleweed time.

Gretna is no good. Cuts my Porker distance by 60 miles.
    So whats the plan?

Oh fxxk, long day. I meant to say Dumfries is no good. Soz.
I was wondering after looking at the map. Open to suggestions as long as I can get there and back on a tank full of Super.

Will stick to Gretna. If HM wants to join us then that's up to him.

    Plan A = Good. Also do-able on a tank of Super :)

Holiday season innit. Actual,y its the Saturday morning squares thread for me as we're 2 hours ahead. Just recovering from the world's largest fish meze with the aid of gin and tonic while gazing at the stars.

Evening Squares. I'm imprisoned with no booze as I have to give junior a lift back from whichever station she lands back at after her 18th birthday dinner with her mates up in London. Hope she comes back early then I can have a glass of something...

Would you have preferred a 4am phone call tattooed bloke in tow with dulcet Iwfud tones, stinking of Rasberry Vodka, hot rock burns in her top and puking in the car on the way home?

Evenin' All, having a night in after cycling 2 days on the trot. Currently contemplating having cut my ties with the North East today, it's certainly going to be different not driving up every month.

Might pop out and get some take away soon and have a ferkin big steak washed down with some decent plonk to mark the occasion.

Aye well. Becomes a different life. Went through a similar thing in 2015/16 when we sold parents' house and then father, who had been in care home for 3 years, died, mother having gone several years earlier. Not been back to (proper) NE as in Aberdeenshire since the scattering of the ashes in 2016. It had been monthly trips up, BHX - ABZ and hire cars for years...

It does take time to process both the losses and the changes.

    All the best.

Did you mark the occasion with a ceremonial burning of the cloth cap.
You do realise that now you are a 100% southern softy you will have to start drinking over expensive bottled water and if you ever do have a beer it will be only be a half.

My old man died eight years ago, though my mother is still alive and I go round every week.
Must admit that it would feel strange when her house, where I grew up, eventually goes once she's gone.

    Very true and thanks Loon.

I've had a couple of years to adjust as the house has been empty since 2017 so it was time for it to go. I'll be headed back as a tourist at least once a year to see friends and rellies though and can at least go when the weather isn't cack.

Half of shandy...or a wine spritzer.

We had fish 'n' chips instead of steak tonight. Quite fitting really. I annoyed then OH by ordering a couple of pickled onions as a treat :)

    Mushy peas?

I suppose they would now be considered a side order.

I'll be up in the North East at least once a year or so for a few days, starting next summer. May also get up to the hell hole of the North West as I have a mate in South Manc-Ville.
