Anyone else set a training goal for 2014
I completed my first club time trial this year, 10 miles on a flat course.
Looking to better my time, and also compete in the 'hilly' time trial, which i didn't feel strong enough to do this year!

My goals for the last 2 years has been overall mileage - both goals achieved ahead of schedule ...
Not sure an increased mileage goal would be suitable for next year. Not into racing or TTing so will have to think of another challenge to run over time.
I had wanted to do my first 100miler this year but didn't get around to it - so will do that next year.0 -
I've reached my target this year of doing 100 miles. So next year up the distance further!
Maybe have a go at a weekend away touring.
Go biking in Colorado again maybe.

4. Get a license and try a 3/4cat race (big maybe).
Whether any of that will happen is still to be seen.0 -

Big mix of cycling, running and duathlons this year for me. (Duathlons as I have zero upper body strength for triathlons...)
Cycling the big ones for this year are two single day challenges:-
MTB - South Downs Way in a day - more of a long relaxing day than a flat out 100miles cross country race.
Road - Coast to Coast in a day- this I probably will do as quick as possible.
Duathlon: Beat my pb's at races I have done before. Also doing the Box Hill spring duathlon as the runner in a team.
Running: Aim for sub 1:30 half marathon. Sub 4hr Beachy Head Marathon. Fastest BH marathon I have done is 4:00.02, gutted not to have done sub 4hr on that one...
I'm sure that more challenges will present themselves as the year arrives and progresses.0 -
1) Awaiting arrival of first road bike in next couple of weeks
2) Get used to clipless pedals
3) First hundred miler
4) Madrid to Lisbon in May. 500 miles in 5 days!0 -
Carry on enjoying cycling.0
-
1) Train hard, and win a cat 3/4 race
2) Enjoy cycling
3) Try not to spend too much on cycling stuff!Insert bike here:0 -
Regain confidence and get back to full fitness after accident
Get that average mph above 13 and moving towards 15 and above
Put in some better performances at the sportives and audax that I like to do
Properly prepare for the dartmoor classic which means man up and do those hills instead of avoiding them
Do another holiday bike/ rail tour in France either with friends or solo0 -
Training goals:
200 miles / month
at least 1 100km ride / month
By the end of the yer, have a new PB on every important hill in the area that I rode in 2013
Beat current club 10 PB (28.01) - stretch goal 26m and a bit time.
Daft goals:
Coast to coast ride (in 1 day or it doesn't count).
Ride to my mums (180 miles away)
TdF stage 1 and 2[urlhttp://veloviewer.com/SigImage.php?a=f3252&r=3&c=5&u=I&g=s&f=abcdefghij&z=a.png]Veloviewer[/url]0 -
Try and ride one day when the roads aren't awash with rainwater. May be a while before that happens...0
-
Full goals are becoming clearer now:
24 hour TT - it'll be the Sussex one. I am unsure of exact distance I think I can do as this is a very new game. Between 350 and 400 miles I reckon.
1300km in the Scottish highlands and islands - going to be amazing.
The scariest goal is a 3 and a 400km on the tandem as my other half has expressed interest in attempting PBP in 2015 on the tandem. It'll be a test of our relationship's strength for sure!
Other than that - I'd like to keep on riding at least 500 miles a month throughout the year. Gets flipping hard this time of the year.0 -
1) My first century (100 miles) ride, I like the Wiggle ones
2) Lose 2 stones in weight during the 'closed' season
3) Compete in a 3 day event0 -

I've lost too many friends too early to cancer in the past couple of years. Get out and do whatever you can now while you can. And with any luck you'll still be doing it in 25 years time.0
