no, probably not a good idea to spread marmite on your bike.
It might look better than the orange bits!

New pedals arrived yesterday, looking really nice. The old nanos are going on the bird when she arrives, hopefully back end of next week.SHUT UP AND RIDE!!!

Giving her a strip down clean and relube a few days ago, I noticed what appeared to be a 2-3" crack in one of the welds by the seat tube to bb shell. Took it to my local orange dealer as warranty suggests and he all but confirmed it. So its to be stripped and shipped back to orange in the coming weeks. Absolutely gutted like no riding her for probably about a month. At least my bird zero is due next weekend or the beginning of the following week, So I won't be a joyless unbiked emotional homeless gutted mess.SHUT UP AND RIDE!!!

So I've stripped her down and boxed her up in the box the bird came in, very handy indeed. Seems to be another little crack in the left chain stay on the weld not very visible on the pics tbf. Time will tell, shipping her back to sunset on Friday then on to orange for inspection and replacement if correct.

That's possibly not a crack in the weld. Welds rarely crack in the middle of a bead like that, they usually go on the edge.
Orange are known for good customer service so I guess once they get it they will sort it quickly.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Honestly I have no idea I just took it to my local orange dealer and he said with it being on the weld its best getting it checked and most likely to be a crack. Hopefully its fine though. Touch woodSHUT UP AND RIDE!!!

So Orange stripped the paint and inspected and couldn't find any frame damage, yay So they offered me a free warranty respray, I chose fizzy orange as neon green is now discontinued and didn't fancy kermit green. I liked mountain mint but thought with the current orange parts it wouldn't look that good. Its just being resprayed so hopefully ill have her back this week or next week. Going to get a bigger chainring on her but just working out what size to go for. Will get some fresh pics up on arrival.SHUT UP AND RIDE!!!

Oh how I have missed her, got her frame protected and semi built. Just some shock shuttle bolts and seat post clamp tomorrow from the postman and I'll get her finished. Hopefully out this weekend if my knee stops giving me jip. Absolutely love the new color feels and looks like a new bike, treating her to a 36/34t n/w ring and some new pedals as my brother all but destroyed mine when he lent them the other day.

She's finally finished after the PITA renthal grip bolt rounded off and rusted in place, 2 hours with a hack saw trying to get at the bolt without damaging the bar grrrrr! Just the new chain ring to come this weekend and pedals, the wheels need retruing aswell. Can't say how strange it feels to get on the bike feels tiny compared to the bird.

Treated her to some new grips after trying to use one of the renthals with one bolt, not the best idea.
Really like the look of them and they feel great very pleased for £8 or so.SHUT UP AND RIDE!!!

Looking good. I also had an issue with the shitty screws on Renthal grips. Ended up drilling it out, which is a bit scary when it's attached to a Carbon Renthal bar. Wrote of a decent set of grips, because they would only spend 3 pence on a screw made from cheese.0

Well its been a while since ive ridden the orange due to running out of tyre sealant and knee injuries. Treating her to a new wheelset in the coming weeks and have some stans fluid in the post arriving this week. Going for some superstar tech 4 some ds25 or ex 23's depending on whats cheapest at the time as ther is like 50g between them. Also a replacement set of nano-x's gratis as i lent my brother my new deltas and he had a bit of a crash and ruined them. also want to get some proper tubeless tyres or at least a bigger stiffer carcass minion on the front as the single ply is squirmy as hell compared to the exos on the bird, even with higher pressure.
photos to come soon.SHUT UP AND RIDE!!!

Well my sealant, pedals and truing stand arrived. Got the pedals installed they look pretty neat, much improved on the old ones from what I'm to hear aswell. They came with 2 different sized pins aswell, so I've experimented by putting the small ones in everywhere but the outside of where my foot will be possibly some extra grip in sketchy situations.
The plan was to true the current wheels until I get the superstar ones when they go on offer, however the truing Stand was disappointing, on installing the second bolt following the same process as the first with a socket set and gentle hands.....it stopped about 3mm from the plate and the nut filled with plastic just spins and doesn't tighten. Would be that bad if it held the plate secure but it rocks side to side. So park tool have had an email as its FUBAR I'm even unable to disassemble it for return Grrrrr major headache. :x So it will be a little longer again before she's back on the trail.
Took some updated photos however.
The previous nanos pins and battle scared bodies.

A nice dirty one for you.
These pedals are somehow even grippier than the previous ones, hats off to superstar there possibly have to remove the longer pins and just use the shorter ones they're that grippy, I don't even use flat specific shoes either. £28.80 well spent.SHUT UP AND RIDE!!!

Little update got a set of Superstar Tactic Tesla wheels and some new Maxxis DHR II 2.3 exo TR tyres, got the wheels in the sale for £199 and tyres for £50 so not a bad little upgrade, got tubes in them until I put the gorilla tape and valve stems in tonight. Feels a hell of a lot lighter now aswell.
