It would be good if the carbon rods were adjustable in length for a bit of devil-detail tweaking.

Cheers, I was trying to find a more recent example.0

I guess the aluminium ends should slide around 10mm giving a good range. As a people know with carbon seatposts tricky to hold in place firm. Pinned as well in the carbon rods would give peace of mind.
I would be messing every ride though...0 -

I actually like the simplicity of that, especially the wheels, it looks lightweight. Could do with some colour though.0 -

Cheers FF, managed to get one with the cars too.0 -
I wonder if the new Trek Bike is in anticipation of a lowered minimum weight? I'm sure I heard mutterings somewhere the UCI were going to lower it...0
-
If that Trek had Dura-ace on it, I think it would be the best looking bike I've ever seen.0

The TDF bikes have 300g lead weight behind the water bottle holders to keep them in line with UCI regs, according to a re-tweet from Jens Voigt. No idea about change in rules.
I agree I think it looks really nice. May be in the market for a proper bike next year, and I rather like the new DA when I tried it.0 -

The Trek isn't actually the lightest bike on the market - it's just the way they built it up. The Cervelo Rca frame set is lighter for instance.
If you spec the Trek up with 'standard' parts and wheels that would be used by the Pro Team (for instance Di2, SRM, Bonty wheels), then it's pretty much bang on the UCI limit. Or 300g under if you go by Jens Voigt.
They needed some marketing BS to make it sound 'special' so they built it up with boutique parts so they could call it the lightest 'production' bike - and appeal to those with more money than sense. Much like the Spesh MacLaren Tarmac. Barely any difference from the regular model, but a hefty price tag.0 -

Colour
And price.
You DO get a matching helmet and shoes though. And it's slightly lighter than the standard model. But mostly it's just the price and paint.
I actually recently bought the new Tarmac also (plain black) but haven't had a chance to finish the build and ride it yet. In the next week though. Will be interesting to compare it to the Venge for ride quality.0
