Looks some good stages in that route. Excited about NI stages too.

Hopefully weather will be better for Ponte Legno-Val Martello stage. It is a week later next year. We were there this year for last 5 days and we did still drive upto Val Martello. It was still passable certainly as far as the dam as we ran up past all the TV crews and parties of locals still enjoying themselves. Its a beautiful dead end pass road. Should make a stunning stage.

Need to decide if I can afford to go out again?

Glad to hear we weren't the only ones who did this, we turned around at the lake too. As long as the weather holds this will be a brilliant stage, so glad they're including it next year.
I also went up, but later in day. Was eerily quiet in places. Got all the way to the finish, it was a fantastic drive, highly recommended for anyone who can make it this year.
Sadly I can only do weekend trips.

Nibs let the side down slightly with his trainers, although as reigning champ he can obviously wear whatever he wants.

    Route video is here:

    Like the route.

Good mountain stages. I like the typical giro short ramp up to a nice medieval town finish and there are a few of those.

Let's hope for some better weather.

Anyone any thoughts on the TTT to kick this off ?

I jumped the gun to get flights assuming it was the standard Saturday kick off - and er it isn't...

I'm hoping they'll put the TTT on in the evening - hopefullly they'll want to maximise the crowds ? Anyone heard anything ?
  • The thing I really liked about this year's route was so many of the transiation stages had a few lumps before the end that made them really entertaining even though the GC battle fizzled out early on

A Belfast whiskey club has asked me to do a whiskey tasting on Giro weekend.

My regular comedy show is Whiskey For Dafties.

What should we call this special one off? They suggested Whiskey For Bikers but that's Isle of Man TT territory.

    Whiskey for Cyclists sounds rubbish.

    Whiskey For MAMILs?

    Whiskey for Wheelers?

Come on you can do better.

Are you personally being helicoptered around by Brailsford again this year?

That's not how taxis normally get a print of a cyclist on the side door...

Smart graphics. Looks like the driver could use a bike fit.

Predictably there has been some controversy regarding possible removal of murals and flags along the route

It looks like a compromise has been reached........

Google hasn't helped. Does anyone know the timings for the Friday TTT? I read a rumour somewhere that it might be in the evening.

Pretty sure it is evening, 5pm-8pm or so if I remember correctly. We arrive at 9pm into Belfast and remember we would just miss it (obviously see some action Sat and Sun)

The Northern Lights last night at Dunluce Castle.

Kinda on topic as the castle is one the landmarks on stage 2
