A huge huge day for Mark Cavendish. I think he considers this etape to be his own. Can he do it? I believe he is tenacious enough to win even if he isn't the fastest sprinter out there. I certainly think he is the most race savvy.

Love them or loathe them sprint trains certainly give an added dimension to this particular stage.

    Bring it on!

This will be interesting, a battle to see who has survived best in a brutal final wekk.

Orla Chennaoui tweeted that Cav told her yesterday was the most tired he'd ever been. Let's not forget he's ridden two very mountainous grand tours so far this year.

Na, I reckon Contador will go for a lone break with two laps to go to get back a podium place, Cav 2nd today

Our hotel is just off Champs Elysee, and it is VERY hot, which may count against Cav.

So hot, that M&S can't sell their sandwiches as they're not cold enough! (WHich is causing the British to get very upset!!)

oh btw, the geology is the same as the Paris Basin post that I had to string out for 3 stages from Brittany to the Alps

Anyway, has anyone been to Lanzarote, specifically, has anyone been kitesurfing there..?

You'll probably get shorter odds on Tom Simpson winning this year's World champs than Matt Goss winning a sprint.

...but..but...but.. - P&P tell me he is a top contender - several times, every sprint stage.

I heard Liggett say "Matt Goss the sprinter" yesterday. I thought about starting a class action on behalf of the other sprinters for slander

There is a Lampre (Jose Serpa I think) on the front right now as they roll out of Versailles! Quite frankly this is taking the p*ss.

Cannondale finish the race with 8 riders.

IIRC that ends a lengthy streak of finishing GTs with the full squad intact.

It was a request by their DS to get some wind and sunlight on the shirts as they hadn't had time to dry them

Right Mrs Peril has agreed to take the Perilettes to swimming so I'm in play for the whole of the stage. I will, as always, be watching it on ITV4 for full comedic effect and the fact that I really want Imlach and Boulting to be my best mates.
