Just joking, no, really I am. He's lovely and very, very balanced. In fact, the whole group of them were lovely, TheBigBean, Moomaloid as well.
Cheers. Are you going to make the BR Xmas bash this year? Your absence was noted last year!0 -

Anyway, as nobody has singled me out for praise or abuse, I'm assuming I'm just wallpaper and can carry on doing as I see fit. Win.Twitter: @RichN950 -

For what its worth, some of the discussion does get a little belligerent on particular topics that shall not be named but this forum is still considerably better than some other places that shall not be named. Don't get disheartened. Let's strife to be the best we can be eh?
Can we just refrain from pejorative terms such as 'troll' 'fanboi' 'noobs' etc and remember that anyone who is here must be a cycling fan. It doesn't matter why they are a fan. There is no jersey for 'World's Bestest Cycling Fan' although there should be and it would like this:

Dont really understand why people get so het up about what is posted in forums a large % of it tends to be sh*te posted by people who don't have a scooby doo but like to pretend otherwise.Gasping - but somehow still alive !0

<Personal opinion>
Many different posters are responsible for derailing threads, posting personal or unnecessarily objectionable things.
However, one specific poster is predominantly 'involved' in each of these exchanges in one way or another.
Q.E.D.
That said, I have zero issue with any post or poster - even the ones that I fundamentally disagree with. The diversity of character, style, input and opinion is what makes the forum. It is the diversity that holds my attention - warts and all.
Don't go changing.

On the plus side all this has got Coriander posting again.

I'm afraid i won't apologise for asking people to provide evidence for their wild claims, after all, people ask me that every day in my job!
The problem is the sensitivity about Sky IMO. I read in another thread someone moaning that no one accused Nibali of doping in the Giro. Well, I certainly remember peopled doing it. With Sky there seems to be some kind of victim thing going on where everything is taken as a slight
I've had disagreements with FF - And called him a loon with a cartoon view of cycling. But it's just his character on the forum, doesn't bother me. And I think my baiting doesn't bother him.

Keep in mind it is a British forum. Some people get angry when I compare this forum to American cycling forums in the Armstrong years, but it is easy to see. It's a British forum and Sky is THE British team so people around here get very sensitive about any don't in their team. The funny part is that I should not be getting attacked but should be listened to because I have been where those people are. From reading the thread about when you became a pro cycling fan, almost everyone who posts about it has been a fan for at least ten years and many for twenty or thirty, thus you guys have waited and dreamed of a British rider winning the Tour for years, of a British team winning the Tour. I was fortunate in that I only had to wait two years to see an American win the Tour, but had to see the '85 Tour first. It was huge and I would hear nothing bad about Lemond (being older and watching his Tours I can see that he was far from the flawless cycling God I thought him to be. I was a huge 7-Eleven fan but had to wait until 1999 to see an American team win. It's easy to want something so badly that you simply can't see anything that doesn't fit your vision. I was that way with Armstrong, 2003 was the year it was easy to say "I told you so" since he struggled so bad, then the truth kept getting more and more evident. I have no problem saying I wanted to believe, I am sure I was as big of an ass about it as some of the people around here (though I never lied about what others posted, nor tried to get them banned simply because I disliked their opinion, but that's another thread). The difference is that I can look back on it and see the folly of my ways, something many of you can't do right now. I have had the great fortune in my life to have the opportunity to turn professional in three different sports, one I was too burned out on the sport to keep going and the other two meant I would have had to quit college to make very little money to cling to a dream, so I chose not to and they were the right choices. Having been in that world, and having the opportunity to know many current and past pros in many sports I can tell you that doping is not "does he" but "how much does he" in this day and age. Think about your favorite non-cycling team and athlete and I can almost guarantee that doping is going on. It's a sad state of affairs but it has been true in competition (not just sports and not just about money) since the first time someone said "I can beat you." This history means that you can't simply brush off any questions about doping, especially simply because it's someone from your country.
Now I hope that some will read this and think about it, not just get angry because I am not saying Sky/Wiggo/Froome are totally above questioning.0 -
