Someone's found a way to make these 'boring' sprint stages more exciting

How did you get 2/1 on Cav? I checked this morning and it was crap odds :(

haha That's not me... I wish I had £200 spare to bet on a TdF stage!

Well that should make it a bit more interesting for Sunday, I can see sky imploding on Ventoux. I just hope Froome can put up a fight so we get a proper battle. Shame Valverde, Evans and Schleck seem to be out of it though.

Cav must be proper chuffed with that win. That was a 'real racers'TM win. He raced all day for that. Right need to find me some highlights.

ITV4 on ITV Player or whatever it's called. Use a UK based VPN if there are regional restrictions.

They aren't out of it mate. It just takes Froome to crack on a climb and he could lose far more than 3 mins by the end of the stage.

I wish I'd put more than a fiver on Kittel when he won last week at 7/1!

http://www.cyclingtorrents.nl/details.php?id=11952 You'll need to create a user if you haven't already, obviously. Takes 1 minute.

As some know, that site is paradise.

If Froome bottles this and doesn't win, I don't think anyone will ever be able to wipe the smile off Wiggos face

I've got a feeling that Froome will be happier in the mountains when it's a bit more 'man on man' and he doesn't have to reply so much on the team.
When it all comes out of the wash they are all tired but Froome is almost 3 mins up. He's stil in the driving seat.

If Froome had shown some of Contador's determination and ridden for himself last year then Wiggins wouldn't have been smiling at all.

According to Sporza, Belkin has been planning this for days, and specifically recced this stage months ago. The made plans with OPQS this morning over breakfast

Yeah, he really should have stopped himself getting thumped by Wiggo in the TTs.

So you think if Froome had ridden off on his own against team orders and against what he was primarily there to do he would have won the TDF last year instead of Wiggins ?..........
Gasping - but somehow still alive !

Froome was 1 min down on Wiggins at the end of the Tour. He could easily have put more than that into him on the stages where he was forced to hold back.

Obviously that's precisely what I'm saying and what I have been saying for a year - where the f*ck have you been?

It's exactly the same scenario as LA and AC when they were both on Astana.

Where the goddam were Lopez and Siutsou in all this shenanigans? I am really questioning there inclusion in the team. Everyone else has played some part even if they have lost time either today or other days, but those two they have really been conspicuous by their absence.
Siutsou was in the front group with Froome IIRC, he tried to do a bit of chasing after Saxo went up the road but was one of the first to drop away. Lopez I think was stuck in the Kittel/Valverde group from much earlier on, was no use to Froome at all for the whole day really.

My bad, it was a minute in the final TT. He still could have done it.

    A minute? Try 3mins 21?

EDIT: beaten to it. So there we go, soundly humped, due to the TTs.

I mean clearly they knew it was going to be strong crosswinds months in advance

I get this argument but it's a how long is a piece of string - yes Froome would have put time into Wiggins in the mountains but still think Wiggins had something in the tank and would have limited his losses - they road to the numbers with something in reserve in case of attacks. In the last TT Wiggins had it in the bag, took no risks and has been interviewed where he said the last few km he wasnt going full gas as the realisation had kicked in.

It's a lot like saying a football fan saying they would have won had a ref given a particular decision. Those decisions effect tactics, motivation etc.

As it stands Wiggo won - and Team Sky (and Wiggo) promised to ride for Froome this year - down to him to make good on those promises.

Yeah but it also requires Contador and the Belkin boys to crack. Valverde would have to have a VERY good day to catch up now.

A short stage but some real racing.
3hrs and 40 mins??? Thats lightning quick!

Wonder whats the fastest ever stage, surely this has to be up there?
Fastest ever stage was in 1999 (start of the new clean era!), Mario Cipollini won the fourth stage with an average speed of 31.3mph...

solo ride by the hog with a tailwind in 1993 was more impressive on the lubricous speedometer

Sky are completely cooked, it's going to be a bloodbath in the mountains
Wiggins must be loving watching this at home.

Who will be in the Yellow lids after today? Saxo after the TTT this afternoon?
