You definitely see it coming down the hill.
The best thing about the BFe is confusing science nerds. I was out on a ride with one of my buddies who's quite brainy, and he was trying to work out how they had made a Boron and Iron alloy. You can be dumb whilst being clever.0 -
My new Solaris out for a play in the FoD.

Some great inspiration here for when I hopefully get my BFe soon 8)"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"

Can I just ask you Cotic users about sizing?
Thinking of BFe to replace my Kona but unsure whether to go S or M. I'm 5'8", 31" inside leg which puts me on the cusp of the two. Leaning towards the small for a more chuckable ride but what do you guys think?0 -
If I was you, I'd speak to Cy... You're right, you could do either, you've got the inside leg of a medium and the torso of a small
I'm 5'10 and 31 inch, and definitely a medium- the small BFe didn't really feel any better at anything, mediums are still very chuckable, pretty compact frames. But I reckon you'll fit a small better overall.
Whereabouts are you? Might be possible to sit on some.Uncompromising extremist0 -
I think a Soul is my next frame if/when I get bored of my 456C0

Third that. Its a bike that looks like a lot of fun. Why anyone would buy a Orange girder over a rocket I honestly don't know.0 -

Well they have built their own frames for a long time, buy a cotic you don't know if it will stay in one piece0 -

No I think they are a known quantity, you however think after stating

See, the fun part is, you have no idea of why it happens. In 150mm front, 100mm rear guise I raced the fort william endurance downhill on it- chap from Orange did the same on a Five and the word he uses for what happened to his downtube is "shattered", mine finished the race unlike about half of the dh bikes on show, in better condition than its pilot (he also made it clear in his blog that it wouldn't be a warranty job if it happened to a customer)
It's done uplifts and pushups all over the country, downhill races, trips to the alps, more enduro races than I can believe thinking about it now, and just about every component I've ever bolted to it has also broken. ) Also a distressing amount of rider parts. It fell off the bloomin chairlift at fort william and bounced, so compared with that it's hardly worth mentioning the time it feel off the roof of my car. All in all it's been used ridiculously beyond what it was designed for, for years. And by a knob! So it's never had an easy time of it, it's been ridden into every tree at innerleithen at least once, and bounced off every rock at the fort And I wasn't even the first owner. Maybe the first owner just polished it and looked at it, but it is butt ugly so I doubt it.
So yeah it's broken, and you'd have to be a moron to fault it for that, that sort of use destroys bikes. But despite me having bought it used and having no warranty, and it being too old to be in warranty, oh and being used in a way that clearly invalidates any warranty, Cotic have supplied me with replacement bits for free or for nominal costs, without ever even being asked- you phone them up and say "I broke it doing something idiotic" and they say "Cool!"
So that's why I like Cotic. I'd like any company that can match that but who else is there really? If you want an direct orangey comparison, if you break any 26 inch five and it's not a warranty job, you are boned- they won't even sell you a replacement part. So yeah they are a known quantity alright.Uncompromising extremist0 -
Well that told him, well said Northwind. Plus the fact Cotic have been going 12 years, I think they're a know 'quantity'.0

I would try and make a point to what you just said... If only your point was remotely comprehensible.0 -
