Porte attacks! Froome was sitting in front of him all the way up.

Brilliant bit of digging deep from Sanchez. Stef Clement very impressive again. Too easy for Sky.

Great ride by Stef Clement there. Not usually a name you'd see up there in that company.

If Sanchez isn't going to the Tour, apparently due to poor form, that was a great "f**k you" win.

Dennis drops down to 9th but came in 3 seconds behind Kwiatkowski so presumably retains white?

Probably the most impressed I've been by him.

I thought he said he was feeling tired and thus not able to prepare and do the Tour with the required amount of effort and devotion, so not a matter of poor form. He did okay formwise in the Giro.

J-Rod 14 seconds behind the Froome group. He doesn't seem to be in great form at the moment.

I wondered whether Sanchez might have been bluffing to give Fuglsang a false sense of security. Eitherway, good performance by both. Glad for Sanchez.
Perhaps Fuglsang will come back to the level he appeared to be reaching a couple of years ago, but then fell away. I hope so.

Not just up there in that company but also up there at the top of climbs.
Bodes well for a top ten placing in the Tour GC.

It was a good work-out for him too. Well done Alberto.

Yep, he's got the makings of a good domestique. Rogers should be Saxo leader at the Tour

Fairplay though - riding for Rogers was the right thing to do. And he moved onto the podium, so it worked.

Very odd sort of mountain stage where Stef Clement makes the elite selection.
Odd sort of a mountain stage that has Contador serving Mick Rogers.
Odd, but not hugely entertaining, with the GC battle seemingly over but for minor adjustments.

I was only able to follow on the ticker but it sounded like a good stage.

A Sanchez win is always something worth being happy about in my book, especially as he is always so happy and knows how to salute. I wish there were more 'GC' riders like him.

Nice to see Contador doing a good super domestique roll but what is the point if Roger's is not attacking Porte. However I suppose shedding Dennis and putting enough time in was worth it.

An interesting stage with the harder climbs front loaded it must have been quite attritional giving how few finished in the front.

VDB Tour Podium contender performing like that...he is another rider who is shi t all year round then manages to put in a great performance at the Tour.

Geraint did a good job and managed to not finish too far down.

Not happy Kwia was off the pace.

Good to see Navarro in the mix. Clement, as noted, has done well. JRod looking average.

So glad the 1km acceleration didnt work for Porte.

I really dont know what these riders are here for though other than a test of their legs and some good training. If that was the case then they should lose a ton of time and go in an impressive break. Just riding wheels is pretty much a fail. Any mountain stage when riders are not trickling in is not a success but it looks like the days of that have almost been lost.

Contador is such a Pro. Froome would never work for a lowly rider if he'd was having a cr*p ride

Just catching up on the stage now. Why was AC riding for Rogers? He's higher on GC?

Presumably with a view to getting Rogers onto the podium.

I think a lot of my attempt at a frenchie post has missed - oh well, I ll try and believe that it was just too intelligent rather than rubbish...

Looking at the real one though I got a lot of it spot on...

Rogers had a much better TT than Contador and was higher on GC than him. He was also placed to takeover Dennis' position if they could "crack" him, which was accomplished by Contador sitting on the front for a long time. Also, would have been a good work out for Contador. Rogers was second here last year - so keeps his and saxo's points for next year ticking over.

If Rogers is 1min or so ahead of Contador in the tour, I doubt VERY much whether you will see Contador doing domestique duty for Rogers. However if Saxo are going to ride the Sky train all tour and not counter train them, Rogers could end up well placed at the end of the 3 weeks.
