You haven't seen?

Mine is
11. 8.8 Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Not a fan of the franchise, but liked the first one (1977), no idea what episode it is.

Interesting to see one of my favourites in at number seven...
7. 8.9 12 Angry Men (1957) 239,469
Quick count I have seen 167 of them! :shock:my isetta is a 300cc bike0 -
I recently started picking films from that list as an easy way of finding new stuff to watch. I still have never seen any of the Godfather fims however and not sure I really want to...am I really missing something that special?0

If you are picking good films to watch, why would you not watch good films? The Godfather series is great, if not a long watch. I highly recommend!0 -
Depressing viewing. It looks like I've seen every decent film in that listPinno, מלך אידיוט וחרא מכונאי0

I've seen all bar 4 - The shawshank is total cobblers - how can you have Persona, Stalker and Toy Story 3 competing for equal merit.
Whats sad also is Godfathers 1 and 2 being up there - just because someone wrote that GF2 is an example of a sequel being betterthan the original its become folk lore - and why is there no porn , my copy of 'Widdicombe in Saturday Night Beaver' is never out the vhs toploaderThe dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns
momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.0 -
I've never seen Schindlers list - one of those things that I would watch, but missed it at the cinema and never been on the telly when in the mood to watch it
interesting that Terminator 2 is rated higher than the first...."I get paid to make other people suffer on my wheel, how good is that"

I'd have thought that City of God would be higher, after seeing it on the list I'm going watch it tonight, top film.0

Same.
Shawshank Redemption being #1 is the film equivalent of a Coldplay album being voted best album ever by readers of Q Magazine.0 -

142 out of that lot, christ must get out more.
They are missing:
Jean De Florette and Manon des source as well as Delicatessen, Lost in Translation (unless I missed it) and Broken Flowers.
You cannot have that shyte Toy Story and not have the iconic original 'Italian Job' as well as Get Carter.

I reached 17 Seven Samurai, then 28 Rear Window, then 39 City Lights... but Im not one of those people that watches really old films as either the crappy old style acting or lack of colour annoys me
...and how Toy Story 3 is higher than the first two films makes the list annoying too0 -

Where's AlienS?
I f&*^ng loved that film when it came out - I was a teenager - awesome!0 -
Hmm... only 90! Started like I was going to get a big total but steadily dried up. Highest not seen = 5 (The Good, The Bad and The Ugly). Would like to but wife not into Westerns at all. Maybe when I'm finished my part time studies later this year I need to make some effort here...
And Toy Story was genius! So many excellent animated films in last 10/15 years - Monster Inc. and Incredibles also top drawer.0 -
...come to think of it - The Jungle Book. Where is The Jungle book on that list ?seanoconn - gruagach craic!0

I know, I know. Once I'm finished studying later this year, my wife will be doing a course of her own so there will be much more time to watch stuff like this... For the last few years, time (for things other than working, cycling and doing family stuff) has been a mythical creature... The end (of studying, not me!) is near though...0

Also, 'The Thing' should have been higher than #145."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -

Schindlers list. Overrated.
Terminator 2 is infinitely more quotable than the original, and the relationship between terminator and kid turns it from weirdo cult film to proper pulp fiction.
And the highest film I haven't seen on the list is Rear Window.0 -

I am the opposite, as I tend to prefer the older films, be they colour or b&w.
In the case of some modern films, I find it amazing how producers spend $100,000,000 on special effects, cgi etc and then what appears to be $10 on a screenwiter to come up with a script.
Today's special effects are amazing but for me, a film is about conveying a story. If for instance they remade 'The Dambusters' where the special effects on the original were awful, would the new version convey the stories of those involved or would it just be a cgifest.
Likewise, Zulu, (one of my favourites btw) if remade would be gory and more spectacular, but would not convey the same power as the original.
Another favourite of mine is 'School for Scoundrels', starring Terry-Thomas, Alistair Sim, and Ian Carmichael. I know that it is a gentle comedy and perhaps somewhat dated, but the interaction between the actors is sublime. I could not bring myself to watch the BillyBob Thornton one, just awful.0 -

I've only seen the first - massively over-rated IMO. Over long. The only potentially nice person in the film is Pacinos characters missus and she gets blown up before she's hardly said anything! The rest of them, Pacinos supposed 'hero' character included, are all irredeemably nasty and I can't be bothered to sit through a very long gangster film when there is no one in it who I wouldn't be happy to see blown away! Bit of a fatal flaw really. Cinematography is terrific though.Faster than a tent.......0
