Cav's 2nd kick wins him another one. The boy is good.

well that rounds off another Giro. Some will say that the racing wasn't always great but there is no doubt that the weather and the parcours made it a hard man's edition. Chapeau to Nibali for great panache, to Evans for a gutsy tour- welcome back to him and finally to Cavendish for sticking with the race when I'm sure he could have drawn stumps some days ago.

Not worth OPQS turning up if he isn't. Boonen isn't anyway.

Great win for Cav! Im delighted for Nibs the Nibbles - fantastic result for him.

Thats it - the season is over now. Cant see the Tour living up to the Giro, what with the way Sky are likely to control the whole thing.

I hate those lapped city centre courses, every blind corner looks like an accident waiting to happen. I bet Nibs is glad there were no pile ups, Its not the way to lose time, or even get eliminated by injury.

Great Giro for Cav, can't do much more than win every stage that you set out to win. Not only that but he looked pretty decent on some of the climbs (relatively speaking).

Got in just in time to see what is almost becoming inevitable. That man's strike rate is phenomenal, I'd love to see a statistical break down of his reliability.

Pleased that Cav's won the jersey that up until now had eluded him. Molto contente for Nibali too, he's ridden what has at times seemed like a nightmare. And great for Uran.

    And goodbye to Quigley.

I know those podium girls wear huge heels, but it does crack me up how far they have to bend down to give the riders a kiss!

Hoping Uran comes to podium with Segio in his arms. :D

Slow news? The Home Secretary riding as a ringer in the BBC Squad qualifies as a bombshell. [Also, there's a pleasing coincidence in the site hosting that image.]

I'm frankly amazed they all got round that without a crash.

I'm with you, Quigley isn't bad, in fact considering he's quite new to it he's pretty good.

Declan Quigley wasn't all that bad, in my humble opinion. In general, commentating in cycling is really of little consequence. It is a sport that really speaks for itself when it comes to the on-screen action. The only thing I want from commentators is the behind-the-scenes stuff on what little story or other is breaking, or some chat about the equipment being used by a certain team. Misidentification of riders might be a little annoying but that sorts itself out pretty quickly. In fairness to him, he was prepared to talk a little more about the past doping history of certain riders and the sport in general. Listening to some of the other commentators, you'd swear there was never an issue with drugs in the past. They are simply afraid to talk at all about the subject. Sean Kelly really came out of his shell during this Giro too, perhaps after Quigley suggested at the start of the race that he would need Kelly's help along the way. The incident early in the Giro when the adverts finished and Quigley and Kelly didn't get the shout that they were "on air" again was very telling. They were working hard at scanning their screen and identifying the riders present in the group for the "return". They were trying to get their sh!t together. You can't fault that. Now, if you insist on getting rid of Quigley for good, we can always call up Kammy!

The best moment I heard was when Declan got Sean to talk about his first time in the Yellow Jersey. A sheepish SK confessed to sleeping in it that night.

    I bloody LOVE Sean Kelly.

I liked Declan Quigley. Started off a bit wobbly, but he grew into the race, and even got Sean to let out his playful side a few times. He clearly likes cycling, knows about the riders, knows cycling history, and I'd be surprised if he doesn't watch illegal streams of little races in his spare times.

Hopefully Quigley will get better, as long as he learns to get out of the 'Where is (Insert riders name here)" mode. Must be hard to talk for 4/5 hours at a time without making an few c%ck ups!

Huge win from Nibali. Did it with class and calmness. Uber-pro. Congratulations.

Well done Cavendish as well for 5 stages because that is immense. What a sprinter.

Betancur as well gets respect for his pure racing. Majka did very well also but just got edged out.

I never saw him go back to do the bottle run! I thought it showed a bit of class that he didn't go for the full pink until the last day.

Steve Morabito (BMC) crashed heavily on stage 16 of the Giro d’Italia, breaking a bone in his hand as a result. But rather than withdrawing from the race, Morabito soldiered on, riding the remaining 1,000km and five stages in support of Cadel Evans.

“I had a lot of pain, but I was focused on staying in the race because I knew that Cadel needed my help,” Morabito told Radsport-news at the end of the Giro.
