If not black, then I was thinking these:

But I will probably bottle it and go for black!

I have seen a Starley in the flesh (with orange logos and Sram Apex) and they look like great bikes. The wheels I am not so sure. The chap that came with us for a club ride had the basic Meteor wheels and he broke one spoke during the ride if I recall correctly and had to call for a ride back home. I am sure the wheels are ok but the Novatech ultralight hubs do not get great reviews by some of the wheelbuilders here (ugo) and the rims I assume will be Kinlin rims which are cheap for a reason. I am not saying they are a bad wheel, and he might just have been unlucky but I would get some better wheels if it was me (like Velocity A23 or H Plus Sons Archetypes with a decent hub like a Dura Ace). I know you will end up spending another £150 or £200 but you will have a proper good set of hoops there.

Deposit put down today. I went for Fulcrum Quattro wheels, same price as the Starley Race wheels.

I'm going to the dealer this Saturday to fill out the order form. Part of that form filling is deciding the colours. I am leaving the frame/fork matte black, losing all of the swishes and swooshes and going for the brand/model lettering in dark red outline with no fill colour. I toyed with the idea of dark red saddle and tape, but I think I'll stick with black.

What do we all think to the colour scheme? I appreciate it's totally subjective.

No, please don't unless you love a bike for five minutes and then don't give a damn. If you have a bike with a gloss finish, and you scratch it, you can polish the scratch out. If you have a matt finish, you are stuck with it. Polishing will just give you a shiny patch. I have one of those on my head so I'm not putting up with them on my bikes too!

Besides, matt black was looking dated a year ago! Gloss will look better and people won't mistake the bike for a Ribble Stealth!

Trust me, it won't be mistaken for a Ribble Stealth.
