The rims really do it for me, and that rear wing is gorgeous. Love it overall.

Used to have a 205 GTI - fantastic little cars. Unfortunately being French they were made out of Kat-Kat wrappers and sticky back plastic. Forever having to fix or reattach things but so much fun when they worked

The only real rally type car I had never actually went off road unless I farked up and came off the track :)

Yep! held together with the finest glue Pierre could find in Paris..

Evo's have always left me a little cold, they're so efficient that they seem to lack sense of occasion. Still a very nice vehicle though

Few more for you before I go to bed...

Probably be able to get them quite easy. Paintwork is quite distinctive on all of these so could be a give away. among other things.

I've always loved the story about Giorgetto Giugiaro's reaction to the TR7's styling when it was unveiled at the 1975 Geneva motor show. Apparently he looked at the side profile, walked round to the other side of the car, then exclaimed "My God! They've done it to this side too!", lol.

Yeah, I'm too young for that, seen photos and what not but I'm used to seeing them out and about in the Andrews colours.

Yeah, I can see why some people find them a bit soulless, in the end they're just souped up Japanese taxis but brutally efficient on track - you could embarrass exotica without being a massively talented driver. Did the job nicely for Tommi Makkinen as well.

Though they definitely weren't soulless once we'd finished modding and fettling them

I am a huge fan of American muscle cars, and yes i approve of this one. It does look nice. Classics look and sound a million times better though!

Advertising agency has ruled that you can't link performance cars to any kind of dynamic advertising. WRC relied on the WRC cars appealing to customers and that appeal filtering into the show rooms (Subaru anyone?) No advertising - WRC has almost died over night. There's just no point for manufacturers to invest any more.

Well spotted that man - car was road legal, we chucked a spare set of wheels 'n' tyres in the car and changed them over at the circuit. We used to buy part used ones that the British Touring Car teams chucked away; dirt cheap and proper sticky-as-snot type rubber. Only lasted 2 trackdays!

While I agree with you, The hemi avenger does sound so sweet, and kudos to anyone that can get it round a rally track, the length of them I struggle to get it around Tesco's car park

Wow, thats a really really good deal! So did you end up ripping Ferraris and Porsches etc, or did they also have the part worn BTCC tyres?

Almost all muscle cars are massive, thats what makes them so attractive to look at, and your right about the sound. Ive only seen a few avengers before, lovely cars. I remember standing next to the rear wheel of that red `70 camaro and thinking "fuuuuck me that rear wheel and tyre are HUGE!"

Was fortunate enough to see a new Challenger be the first car at a set of lights. He put his foot down went it went green. The sound was orgasmically beautiful!!!

That was the general idea :) Depended a lot on driving ability, type of car, amount of modding etc. The ones on road legal tyres were definitely at a bit of a disadvantage.

I lurve the sound of a big V8. Not a rally car, but I saw this being raced at Oulton Park a few years back, and it sounded utterly beautiful - stood at Lodge you could hear him coming all the way from Druids, and when he was revving it in the paddock it practically gave me a boner, lol (I have a phone video clip of the engine running in the paddock somewhere on my laptop):

Man i wish i could see a car of that sort in the flesh. The closest ive got is seeing a Morgan that looks vaguely like that, wire wheels and that same curvy body style.

Ive seen a Shelby AC Cobra (obviously wasnt an original) and that thing is absolutely gorgeous. A thing of beauty. And the sound...the sound! <3

Saw a "naked" V12 at the car show too, that didnt sounds as nice but was still lovely. By naked i mean no exhaust manifold etc. Just 4-5 inch long exhaust pipes for each cylinder. And no bonnet.
