A tad early to start this thread but I have big expectations for tommorow's stage. It could basically be everything or nothing. A breakaway win, sprint, GC drama...

If we don't get proper racing with a stage profile like that I'll do harm to a swan - and we are talking a severe loss of feathers here.

Jesus Thom Thom is it a nocturne?

    An interesting profile, I don't think we'll have swan-gate

A good day to be in the break I think.

Not too sure that a break will stick as early as the first real road stage.
Depends if Sky are prepared to do the minimum or not.
The final climb is very long and gradual, no serious gradient.
The first is completely the opposite, with a killer opening km
and no relief in the first 6.

Davide Cassani talks about the stage and it's very technical decent:

I'm not sure that the break will stick either but I'd say that the average odds on a GT stage of it happening would be in the region of 1 in 18 whereas tomorrow would be somewhere in the region of 1 in 10 subject, of course to the make-up of the break. Can't see Sky trying to defend the jersey and can see the teams without anyone in the break playing poker. Not a sure thing but better odds than for your average break.

Sky couldn't control anything in the classics. I could see them finding it difficultl in the last part of this stage as well.

This isn't the Sky classics squad though...

No, I'm inclined to call it worse.

The more I look at Stage 3, the harder it looks. Climbing and then a fast, winding to the finish. Could rain too

Think Wiggins will keep close tabs on Nibali given that finish. Will be interesting to see if the 20s boner carrot induces something imaginative from one of today's GC losers.

Thom Thom in mischievous form so early in the day...:)

Sky are not defending the jersey today, according to Cycling Weekly podcast that I've just listened to.

EDIT: going to be stunning scenery today - Amalfi coast

LOL There's a lot of PTP switching going on today.

So apparently this route isn't just a matter of a speed bump before the end.

Inner Ring's preview is excellent as always.

Would love to see Cadel Evans do something today with a downhill attack but I'll stick with Bouhanni.

ES starts at 14 15 today - Can't wait, nothing to do today and looks like our Algeria Visas won't be ready in time so could continue like this for a month or so...ho hum ;)

Anyone got a link to internet coverage? Preferably Eurosport?
I've currently got it on this link, but it's in Italian:

    Doubt it.
    Rai still showing yesterday's stage.
Not a live picture in sight, yet.

That narrow right-angle corner into 16% in 5 mins for peloton looks tasty.

Poor Cav. Does he not have a team mate with him?

    Edit: Yes he does.

Did Sean just call Maglia Rosa Pucino? Hope so.

What's the logic in airing Snooker on EurosportHD and Giro on Eurosport2 ..?

Did Quigley just say that "you find a better class of person at the back of the peloton and there is Thomas Dekker" :?:

    Ha ha ha ha :D

The first part is just bizarre and the adding of Dekker makes it funny. A case of 'saying anything is better than dead air.'
