3 leaders out front - all Dom's, but with 8 minutes on the peloton

I'd be amazed if Sagan wins this. Stranger things have happened though.

If Purito isn't feeling the effects from his crash at the weekend then he has to be favourite.

Gap now down to 3"24 as live ES coverage comes up but with a few technical issues albeit blurred/fast forward
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

There are at least 30 riders competing for the top places but if anyone but Gilbert, Valverde or Rodriguez take the win, I'd be very surprised.
The Muur is to long and steep for Sagan.

Sagan's got to get tired soon too. He's been very competitive for over a month now.

all the expectation is that BMC will have to ride the break down

Good point he seems to have had good form for the early season but have to wonder how long he can hold that & as others are on lesser form but getting much better

Bit surprised that Garmin didn't put a guy back there with Martin to help him save some energy to get back in to the race. Must have been a minor issue I guess.

BMC keeping the tempo high - and told to keep the front men within 20 seconds

Martin & Ryder both punctured at slightly different times so perhaps not enough fire power to help out

    quelle surprise!
  • Well done, Dan Martin! 4th, would have been higher with better positioning on the climb.

I must admit I like seeing Gilbert and Sagan go backwards, compared to tiny climbers at least, on super steep stuff.

Still waiting for confirmation of 3rd & 4th place as pretty poor camera angles making it hard to tell
