Might as well start this thread even though the race hasn't quite started yet.

It's refreshing to have a big one-day race where there's a dozen or so genuine contenders. Can't wait.

In other news Amstel is drinkable but nothing special. I'll be finishing the 6 pack though.....

Is it not the case that Amstel in the UK has migrated further down to the 4.something % of a session lager and is now in fact undrinkable?

Tim De Troyer (Accent Jobs-Wanty), Alexandre Pliuschin (IAM), Mikel Astarloza (Euskaltel), Arthur Van Overberghe (Topsport Vlaanderen) and Johan Vansummeren (Garmin-Sharp) now have 8 minutes on the peloton, and it sounds like there are two riders in between trying to bridge across.

4.1% and everywhere I've seen it on tap it is undrinkable, but a higher quality of undrinkable than others

Always found this a palatable beer when abroad and reminds me that I'm on holiday. It's no Troll though.

He doesn't have any team mates nearby so he'll waste a bit of energy getting back into it.

    Boom rather took advantage there.
90kms is rather early to call it full on racing.
Front group a bit small to chase down the break as a result.
Take a while for it to all get back together.

Surprisingly big gap for a big group up ahead... 7 mins.

Winner might come from that group now.

Only two world tour riders in the break. Others can't expect Cannondale to do all the work to bring this back together, can they?

Talk of a broken collarbone on the CN ticker. No conformation though.

Lars Boom out the back after long turns on the front of the chasing group.
