Fast rolling budget tyres..Can you recommend any?

Just bought myself a 2nd hand focus and looks like the bike has been on a turbo trainer due to the flattening on the rear tyre. Not sure of the current make on there but I know they are 25mm. Anyone recommend cheap ish tyres that have puncture protection of sorts that don't weigh a ton but roll well? Thanks all!

Just over a tenner each from 'high on bikes' on ebay.
Bang on.
Hutchinson tyres are too hard and not very grippy. Only had 2 coming off incidents and both were on Hutchinson tyres. Equinox IIs and Atoms
Rubino pro and the conti GP 4000 came top of a test in c+ this month.
Atom Comps work fine on my TT bike and corner OK; though I do admit it took a while for them to scrub in, quite slippy initially

TBH they were new tyres and were very shiny. I just lost confidence after the second time. I just use Ultremo ZX's all the time now regardless of weather and they have done me proud. Was checking them yesterday for nicks after a run out and they still look in fantastic condition, Been on since August '12 and still rolling.
Can be had for £12.75 ea at Parker International

Might be worth a punt.
Yep that's what I'd recommend

I ran my 23's for thousands of miles last year and right through this winter that keeps on giving. I reckon I'll get thousands more out of them too. FWIW I managed to get several KOM's on mine

They are hardly a budget tyre though. A bargain maybe but not a budget tyre.
I have had 2 sets of these. They do roll nice and not bad for puncture protection. However as with many Schwalbe tyres I suffered side wall craking and fraying on both sets.
I have since decided to avoid Schwalbe and now run Continental Gator Hardshells for general purpose riding and Vittoria Corsa Evo CX 320tpi tyres with latext tubes for the ultimate ride.
As for best budget tyre the Rubino's are pretty hard to beat at the price.
They're only 290tpi...and...yellow!
I know but I'm such a sucker for good tyres I'd rather spend a fiver or so more on each tyre and enjoy them rather than wonder 'what if?'

Edit: just noticed the above! good value there. I tend to agree it's worth spending the extra if necessary. The difference between hosepipes and top quality race tyres is the best money you can spend on your bike IMO.
Yes definitely, I tend to buy last years 'top' tyres to see if they are any good, so the other year I bought Shwalbe Ultremos on discount and this year it's the Vittorias.

I'd be interested to read info on these tests. Open Corsa tyres are one of the fastest you can get - even faster than the tub version. I'm sure there's a test kicking about on the net that Conti did where even they had to admit the Corsa was faster.
Here's one http://www.terrymorse.com/bike/rolres.html
edit - that's an old test - I'll be back...
