Fast rolling budget tyres..Can you recommend any?

Decathlon knock out a twin pack on the Hutchinson Atom Comp for less than £40 in store, they got a good write up in CPlus and on here: http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/ ... e-11-44879 but you don't even pay the rrp price for the pair in store last time I was in

Rubino pro and the conti GP 4000 came top of a test in c+ this month.

TBH they were new tyres and were very shiny. I just lost confidence after the second time. I just use Ultremo ZX's all the time now regardless of weather and they have done me proud. Was checking them yesterday for nicks after a run out and they still look in fantastic condition, Been on since August '12 and still rolling.

Also just looking at new tyres and found the Vittoria Rubino Pros on offer on ChainReactionCycles. Not sure whether to go for 23c or 25c? Any thoughts?

Ha! Ordered some of these at the end if last week and they arrived today. Feel light but will wait until definitely not using the trainer so I don't flatten them off.

Still a few of these left at Ribble, no puncture protection but one of the best 'fast' tyres I have used.

I have had 2 sets of these. They do roll nice and not bad for puncture protection. However as with many Schwalbe tyres I suffered side wall craking and fraying on both sets.

I have since decided to avoid Schwalbe and now run Continental Gator Hardshells for general purpose riding and Vittoria Corsa Evo CX 320tpi tyres with latext tubes for the ultimate ride.

As for best budget tyre the Rubino's are pretty hard to beat at the price.

The newer Open Corsas are 320tpi, but I don't think you will get a faster rolling tyre for this money. They are yellow though!

Edit: just noticed the above! good value there. I tend to agree it's worth spending the extra if necessary. The difference between hosepipes and top quality race tyres is the best money you can spend on your bike IMO.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Corsa tyres, open or tubs - but yellow!

You can get Michelin Pro Race 3 for around 20 quid; I'd get those.

Veloflex open tubulars. Conti 4000s have low rolling reistance to. Conti achieve by the rubber comound they use Vitorria and veloflex achieve loww rolling resistance by high TPI. Some test have had the conti 4000s showing lower rolling resistance than the vittorio's.

I'd be interested to read info on these tests. Open Corsa tyres are one of the fastest you can get - even faster than the tub version. I'm sure there's a test kicking about on the net that Conti did where even they had to admit the Corsa was faster.
