Looks like they're waiting for stock, but even so at £329 it's a blooming good deal!
Cheers mate! Only 1 1/8 steerer though, and I need tapered for my frame. I realise there are adapters out there and different headsets but the smaller fork just looks weird going into a big head tube.0 -

I thought that was remnants of snow on the floor there. Then i realised how dumb i was for thinking that. Your bike is looking awesome as always. Best one was your GT Full Susser you posted in the owners thread though. :P0

Nah, your mum had just been stood there with her legs apart for a couple of minutes...
That is (was) a very muddy bike - why can't it be summer all year round?...0 -
Not sure if anyone noticed but I removed most of the stickers last time I washed the bike, leaving just the downtube and top tube decals. I think it looks much better. A lot less busy.
I also added a marsh guard to keep the mud outta my face.
I also got hold of some Shimano Zee stuff cheap, so made the jump from 9 speed saint to 10 speed Zee with the clutch. It arrived today so got it all on and running smooth. Impressed with the quality of the Zee stuff, and the textured shift lever is a nice touch.

Looks a lot better with less decals
I might even take the d/t sticker off mine.Current:

Nukeproof do seem to have an everything plus the kitchen sink approach to graphic design.0

I just fitted one of the Bender Fenders too! and put a Lizardskin downtube protector on the lower part of the dt to give it a bit of protection. I found that the BB can get particularly low at times.
It seems I'll also be running a similar drivetrain to you too! I've got a zee mech, xt cassette and xt shifter in the post. Can't wait to get it fitted along with a new stem I'm getting.0 -

What stem you gone for? I think I might try something a bit longer. I went for 50mm but the mega has a short top tube.
I've got bender fenders on the Orange, the marsh guard is better quality but they both do the Same job.
I'm off out for a ride tomorrow, see how the zee stuff holds up! Particularly interested in seeing how the clutch mech makes a difference.
I was hoping my new tyres would be here today too! I've fallen out with the Hans dampfs, they are massive. On that last muddy ride they ended up about 3 feet wide. I've ordered a minion/high roller combo in 2.35 flavour. Hopefully won't look as clown like.0 -

I know what you mean, less is more.0 -

It had Nukeproof written on it about 17,456 times. It was a bit much.0 -

Yeah - I think they must have a sticker obsessed 16 year old working in their graphics department - great looking frame spoiled by way too many decals.0 -
I've gone for a 50mm Thompson stem. Isn't that the one you have? and yea I ride 2.35 DHF minions front and rear. They roll surprisingly well, very grippy and are wayyy thinner that the Hans Dampfs.0
-
Yeah it is what I run mate, but remember mine is only a medium... Which is 20mm shorter in the top tube.0
-
So got round to fitting the tyres today.
This is a 2.35 minion next to a 2.35 Hans Dampf.
To me, the maxxis is a much nicer size, not just width ways, but the difference in rolling radius was quite surprising. The Hans Dampf looked to add about an inch in diameter. That was what I didn't like about them. The actual tyres were fantastic. Just looked very clown like on the bike.
The maxxis look much more in proportion. I'm running a minion up front and a hight roller on the back.
I also put a new chain on, as the second hand one I had was too short and caused the bottom jockey wheel to come up and hit the cassette under full compression if the shock. I've left it plenty long enough to allow for that on the new one, let the air out of the shock to check and all is good!
Also washed last weeks mud off it.

Im also not a fan of the enormous Hans Dampfs. Minions work well.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Everyone seems to go mad about them, which is why I thought I'd give them a go! They are light for what they are, but they just felt and looked massive.
I've ran minions before on the patriot and loved them so I've gone back. Although I thought I'd try the high roller on the back rather than another minion dhf.0 -
HD's seem to be a bit of a love/hate thing. I personally love their sizeYT Wicked 160 ltd

Same here, I reckon they look perfect on my Mega, and more importantly ride well too.

Cheers Lee!
I can understand people liking the hans dampfs as they are a very good tyre. It was purely the size I didn't like.
Still on the lookout for forks, I think that will be the next thing I go for.0 -
Missed out on a set of FOX float 36 RLC yesterday with the kashima coated stanchions.... spent too long umming and ahhhing and someone else beat me to them! bloody bargain too! I'm still upset lol0
-
Don't be they are fox therefor made of cheese...0
-
I'll just go back to the original plan of the zocchi 55's.
Same price as a second hand set if fox's and two years warranty.0 -
Wanted to try a longer stem for a while, fancied a gold hope one but they cost a fortune new and it was too much to spend just to see what it felt like.
However, eBay came to the rescue with a 70mm gold hope stem in pretty good nick! Saved myself £50! It actually feels great! But not been out on the trails yet!

nice bike mate..............i was gona buy mega frame aswell in black and yellow but CRC didnt have large in stock
and wasnt wanting to wait 3weeks0 -
Removed the Reverb the other day as it could do with a service.
I put a Thomson Layback post on there and went for a ride on Saturday. Cant say I missed the reverb at all! In fact it was enjoyable to just ride without thinking about whether i needed the seat up or down, I just dealt with it where it was.
Really am considering just Flogging the reverb in favor of the more simple set up.0 -
With you there mate, my reverb has started to play up AGAIN. It needs to be bled i suspect. I am getting a bit bored with having to treat it like a newborn baby!0
-
That look stunning mate.
TBH I toyed with a dropper post for my FS but 9 times out of 10 have ridden stuff without dropping the post and have even swapped the Q/R for a seat collar (for asthestic reasons if honest!) so can understand what you mean.0 -
Russyh wrote:With you there mate, my reverb has started to play up AGAIN. It needs to be bled i suspect. I am getting a bit bored with having to treat it like a newborn baby!
I think mine is in need of a service, but its within warranty and its compresses slightly without me pressing the lever and it extends with no resistance at all when I pick the bike up by the saddle too! My mate that I rode with at the weekend has a Reverb and his post doesn't do either of these things!
£80 to service a £150 seat post is a little excessive. I'm just going to flog it when it comes back from warranty. I feel its over complicating things on the bike for only a slight advantage really.
I also don't like having the saddle all the way down ! I tend to like it somewhere between my knees when I'm out of the saddle. This resulted in me faffing about with it quite a lot on my usual rides, trying to find that perfect height for the majority of my riding.
Granted being able to put it up to full height on a climb is an advantage, but I did manage fine at the weekend to be fair.0
