Nothing to really improve the bike, apart from looks. But it ties everything in really nicely!

    Wow. Just wow!
All the gear, no idea and loving the smell of jealousy in the morning.

Did a quick 17 miler on this at the weekend and loved it.....

Still not really happy with the suspension though! Its very plush but feels a bit dead and not as 'poppy' as i'd like even with no rebound dampening wound in either end.

Seriously considering swapping the fork for a 150mm Sektor RL solo air, Ive found one at a nice price, it means dropping 10mm of travel and reducing the axle size to 15mm but it also saves about 1kg in weight and I also prefer the feel of my air recon on the Msisle to the domain.

    Hmmmm what to do?

If you've got the cash and don't mind swapping hubs / axles then get the Sektor, the Mega deserves better than a Domain

Right, I've sorted my rear shock issues.
The shock now feels lovely! Loads quicker/more lively and much plusher too!

So how much did this cost? Naff all! About 20 mins in the garage and an old innertube!

Yeah I did mate! Can't believe the difference! Now just need to find a nice air fork to lighten it up a bit! The domains are ok, but it's like riding my old boxxers! They are a superb fork for the money, but on the longer rides I want something a little firmer, and something lighter.

Might treat myself to a set of marzocchi 55cr in the new year! Unless something comes up cheaper before hand.

    Which 'mod' is that?

Basically removing the sleeve from the shock and wrapping a bit of old innertube around the can to reduce the volume.

    Like this:

    image-2.jpg

It results in not needing less pressure to get the same sag, a plusher feel and a rebound stroke that is much more lively.

Well worth a try for a free mod!

Awesome! How did you end up riding with Peaty and Ratboy then?

Also quick question about the shock mod. I'm looking to do it myself and was just wondering to remove the high volume sleeve, did you need to release the air from the damper at the bottom of the shock like it shows in the manual? Or can you just release the air from the upper valve and then pull the sleeve off?

You remove all the air from the main chamber, then removed the O ring from the bottom of the sleeve, then you just pull the sleeve down and away it comes. Be careful not to cover the hole at the top of the shock body though.

As for riding with Peaty & Rat boy, it was basically his Xmas ride that he does with the locals, my mate is a Grenoside local so told me to come along! There was about 150 riders there all in all.

Fork wise, Im seriously thinking about buy a Marzocchi 55 CR,

    Marzocchi_55-CR_2013.jpg

Its either that or a 2nd hand Bos Deville, but the new Marzocchi with a warranty seems the better plan to me.

170mm travel, air srung, 20mm axle, 35mm GOLD stanchions.... it seems to fit the bill perfectly.

    Go for the BOS.

If Marzocchi QC is anything like it used to be then you WILL need that warranty.

you see, reviews on this fork say totally different to that! It seems they have recently sorted themselves out again and are back in the game.

Been thinking exactly the same AJ, looking at some used Bos Devilles, but they seem to get some fairly poor reviews in terms of servicing/repairs/parts. Albeit awesome reviews as a fork. The 55's seem like great value IMHO
  • BOS forks seem like a awesome product but the backup always seems a problem. You can have the best product in the world but if the support and backup is not there then its a huge negative.

Oh my mate went on that ride with Peaty, he had a good day out.

Marzocchi's warranty on the fork says this....

3 Year warranty without any servicing conditions – service your fork as and when you feel necessary. Fit and forget reliability.

    Sounds pretty promising really.

That's what puts me off the deville. My mate has a shop and sells bos suspension, but as a second hand buy (rather than buying them new through him) it's not really gonna help me too much.

Sounds like we have been going through the same thought process. I am swinging towards the 55's to be honest, not heard a bad thing about them

Me either, there's a video online where they review the 55, the lyrik and the fox 36. The 55 came out on top.

Buy the 55's. Very good fork and very reliable. The 55 RC3 ti is the best fork I have ridden (apart from the 888 rc3 ti evo).
They are a little heavy but I would still have one.
