Jury is well and truly hung over sprinters chances to retain contact over final climb - short but steep apparently.

VUILLERMOZ Alexis SOJ, KEIZER Martijn VCD, CHRISTENSEN Mads TST, MINARD Sébastien ALM
with 3"40' over peloton. 50-odd Km to run. Harmon and Kelly licking lips at prospect of final descent: narrow and twisty with sheer drops. It's raining...

Twitter saying that Boonen is on the front, but I thought he'd abandoned?

Somebody hold LL. JTL on the front on the climb. Selective and not finished yet.

Confirmed Boonen did his threshold workout.

That was an amazing off for Team Sky, don't have sound on so couldn't tell you who it was, whoever it was in the breakaway.

Oooph this descent is a bit vicious. That was quite a wipe out by Kiriyenka. I was enjoying the display of descending skill.

So Porte and Talansky have some time on the main bunch?

Small group off front incl Porte but coming back together on flat. Only 13s gap.

This is looking exciting. Are they going to be able to stay away to the finish?

Perhaps no reconciliation. Might hold on to a handful. Last 2Km.

Pleased Porte got pissed off with them all messing about and upped the pace before they were caught.

Agreed. Even worse in slow motion.

Good to see Porte taking his chances and riding aggressively.

Talanksy continuing to progress after an impressive year last year.

Will definitely have to watch the stage back tonight, sounds like a cracker. Guess they must have read my comments about PN vs TA.

Did you watch the race? Hitchhiked across the gap with Sky and then stole the victory from others in the breakaway.

Yes but he did it with panache. Oh and wasn't wearing Sky kit ;)

    From Cnews ticker:

-Ivan Basso has a mechanical and he's off the back but chasing
-Richie Porte is near the front as Sky now begin to set the pace with six riders forming a train
-Iglinskiy attacks but he's not getting much room and Sky adjust the pace and begin to bring him back

Only one person picked him for "overall" on the PTP though *whistles*...

I have seen him in many races. Go and watch some Baby Giro.

This race, nothing impressive about his win apart from being a young rider and at the sharp end and now sitting top in GC.

So that'll be a "No, I didn't watch the race but chose to pontificate blindly instead".

Come back when you are a bit more informed about the race we are discussing.
