Before anyone else picks Rui Costa for PTP....there's been a crash and Costa's abandoned - on his way to hospital now

Gallopin and Dumoulin were also in the crash but they're still riding

New season, new batch of terrible ads on Eurosport. The Merida one is embarrassing.

Lordy, 2 more spills. The first was more of a braking as the bunch concertina'd and there was a bit of toppling sideways. The second involved Viviani and his lead-out Haedo. All minor stuff.

There was an excellent 15 minute montage on Eurosport yesterday afternoon between the end of the prologue and start of the Roma Maxima coverage - helped being a skier though!

Sounds like a load of pros have forgotten how to ride in a bunch.

Gap is only 30s. It could regroup. Kittel back there too now.

Kittel's mannschaft working overtime to bring him back. Unlikely.

ps. I really dislike riders doing road races in skinsuits. This is an example of a bad influence from Sky. You wouldn't see the grea champions in a skinsuit - the thought of Fignon, Hinault or Contador in a skinsuit is laughable.

I hope JTL out the back is some silly Sky Plan and not because he cannot hack it with the big boys (despite some hardcore winter training).

Both Hampsten and Roche did it in the 80's. It's not a Sky invention.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.
