About time this had a thread I think.

Today:

Escape gone away with 30km to go:
G. Izagirre (EUS), Sulzberger (OGE), Kolobnev (KAT), Valverde (MOV), Costa (MOV), Gesink (BLA) and Henao (SKY) with 30 seconds.

On big climb now. Ian Bibby may be somewhere near the front too.

Valverde and Henao 10 seconds ahead now.

Really wish there was a stream.

Over the top. 19k to go.

Costa got back to Henao and Valverde. 10 seconds to Gesink. 50 seconds to a group of 10.
  • 5 secs to Gesink then 35 secs to gap. All four of those up front are quality and exciting riders.

Think Bibby might well be in that 10 man group.
  • Gesink up there and gap is 45 secs.

Valverde and Henao alone with 9 to go.
  • Henao being lively - good to see
  • Wiggins up there at the front?! (bad data)

He was reported to be earlier, but think it was a misidentification.

    All four back together apparently.
  • Henao and Valverde attack again. Small gap.

  • 2ks, the fours are watching each other. Valverde to win in a sprint I suppose.

    Valverde wins.

Sergio will win a race one of these days.
  • Fortune favours the brave.

Would have been superb to watch this. Now that is racing.

Valverde lighting them up once again. Would have preferred Henao to win though - the guy has panache. Give him a couple of years and he will be racking results.

  • Sergio will win, I'm sure. And when the first one comes, more will follow.

    1. Valverde
    2. Henao
    3. Gesink
    4. Costa
  • I think Henao might have got 2nd - a mate's tweeting from the finishing line

    EDIT: yes, confirmed

And in a hell of a ride, Ben Swift gets 5th! And Bibby 10th!
  • Cor! Nice day for the Brits (and well done Bibby, mixing with the big guns)
  • I'm assuming Wiggins deliberately turned up not to race.

JTL and Uran are also there.

Maybe just Henao's day - they may have set him up then backed off.

Hope to see JTL stretch his legs in style tomorrow.

I had a miserable day over the puig major and the col du soulor from that direction a few years ago. It snowed.

Yeah Wiggo has been riding to the starts to get extra miles in (+60k yesterday I think)

Very tight. Would Farrar have got the win if he hadn't been busy looking at the other guy?
