Fined in Greenwich Park

Bloody coppers out raising revenue again this morning, I know they have signs up etc but I'm just sick of all the anti-cycling measures they install there. it was almost worth the £50 to be able to tell them exactly what I thought of them and their policies (almost )

I'm not sure I understand. You broke the law, got fined and you're upset about it? What have I missed?FCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0

Where did you get stopped? I normally go down the Avenue but took Croom's Hill for the 1st time this morning due to all the road improvements.0

Are you allowed to ride in Greenwich Park? I would assume not if the Rozza's stopped and fined you.
Therefore; whats the problem?
You riding where you should not be riding or Rozza's enforcing the law?0 -
Tut, People always complaining when the OB do their job. People always complaining when they don't.

The thread was really for others who use the Park, but don't let not knowing anything about it stop you from joining in.0 -
I don't know why people assume the coppers get great pleasure in doing this? Normally, isn't what happens is someone complains about people breaking the law in a particular place and the police in response put a unit there to ensure law is enforced? They don't get any money out of it?http://www.georgesfoundation.org

I may not know Greenwich Park well, but I can read road signs wherever I am in the country......
Why start a thread about your own basic failure and obvious downfall?
Question is; Have you learned your lesson or are you gonna do the same tomorrow? Take a different route or get off and walk? Testing out Darwin's theory on your good self...enjoy.0 -

Could the OP maybe tell us what the Police stopped him for? Is riding in the park prohibited? Is riding on that particular hill prohibited? Was the OP breaking the speed limit?

[/adult]None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -

I can sympathize with the OP's feelings of being stopped and fined. It is annoying and costly.
But the OP needs to understand that breaking the rules mean accepting liability for ones actions.0 -
There is no problem cycling along The Avenue in Greenwich Park, but I am assuming the OP got done for speeding down the hill.Little boy to Obama: "My Dad says that you read all our emails"

Totally agree, I soft-pedalled through a red in Regent's Park once (too much lactic acid to fancy stopping and starting, but that's no excuse whatsoever!) and a policeman pulled me over.
I explained why I did it and that I understood that it was neither big or clever, that I was a danger to myself and others and also a law breaker. He let me off with a lecture and I am very grateful for his leniency.
For the record: that's the first red light I ever jumped and it will be the last.Ben

The Avenue is now closed to traffic for road works, only the footpaths on either side are open with big signs asking cyclists to dismount.0

What's the offence for failing to dismount? Riding on the pavement is £30 FPN, failing to obey a road sign is £30 FPN the OP says they got fined £50 so not either of those. Something to do with the royal park maybe?--

I'd like to think that it was a January Met Special - receive two FPNs and get £10 off.Location: ciderspace0
