I agree 100% because none of my friends who I go to the pub with are as inbecillically, unrepentally, anti semitic as Will/Steve.

freedom of speech is great except when someone posts something that could get the forum owner arrested.

No they don't. It's why laws were introduced to prevent incitement to ethnic or racial hatred. You may see a bit of name calling as 'harmless', however to a person who has to suffer it, whether that be a child at school or a person in their workplace, it is not something they or anyone should have to accept. As for 'sticks and stones', what a load of boll*cks! There's a saying that's always been past it's sell by date.

    But what about us?
Rick: We'll always have Paris. We didn't have, we, we lost it until you came to BR. We got it back last night.
Ilsa29: When I said I would never leave you.
Rick: And you never will. But I've got a job to do, too. Where I'm going, you can't follow. What I've got to do, you can't be any part of. Ilsa29, I'm no good at being noble, but it doesn't take much to see that the problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. Someday you'll understand that.
[Ilsa29 lowers her head and begins to cry]
    Rick: Now, now...
[Rick gently places his hand under her chin and raises it so their eyes meet]
Rick: Here's looking at you kid.

Certainly not their first post, I've quoted part of the 'first' before it was edited to 'Bye Bye'. I'm no Inspector Morse, but I doubt it was their first time posting on here.

Although bish bosh's first post was standing up for Steve, I doubt that it actually was Steve because it was far too erudite and there were no spelling mistakes. Or "jokes" about the Holocaust - oh, how funny .....

Still waiting for Steve to comment on his "comedy" though. Or a mod. One of the two, so I doubt we'll be hearing much ......

Wormwood Scrubs/the world's most notorious death camp where millions were sent to their death.

Easy to mistake to make I suppose.

    What a frickin' pleb.

Having read the offending thread on road general, all I can say is WTF? It's one thing to boycott a country based on ethical principles, in fact, I'd say it is something to be applauded. It's another thing to be a racist idiot. Anyone complaining that "heavy handed" mods aren't allowing them to use racist language should probably just bore off and find another forum!

I think he probably meant Colditz? As in prison camp, as in "aren't my freedoms being so tragically restricted?"

    So there you go.

Anyone who finds the postings in Bottom Bracket/Cake Stop offensive must be over sensitive communters who need to get a life, until of course someone posts something which gets our own knickers in a twist then we howl about how offended we are.

If you want a forum which is more or less a free for all, could I suggest 4chan?

No one's forcing you to post here. If you don't like the rules I'm sure there are many other forums that will cater to your needs.

What you even could do is have you bike chat here, and have your non bike related chat elsewhere. You know. The kind of chat that breaks the rules here.

I point you in the direction of this thread -
    viewtopic.php?f=40012&t=12899984

If it is okay for commuters to talk completely meaningless tosh, why is it not okay in the bottom bracket?

    Serious question.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

That wasn't meaningless tosh. It was one member's thinly veiled attempt to flame another member.

Yossie's thread was meaningless tosh which, although breaking the rules, was clearly just a bit of fun and should have been allowed to die a natural death....

There may have been posts to the 'Chinese' thread which I'm not aware of which crossed into racism but I saw nothing there worth locking a thread over.

If you say so. Looked like meaningless tosh to an outsider, me.

Could be. It's not as if we don't have enough sum-forums about bikes already. The bits below are cut and paste from the Road Board 'index'.

    The Cake Stop
The place for more serious off topic questions, light hearted banter and friendly chat.

    The Bottom Bracket
Adults only! Warning - you may be offended!

surely its straight forward.. you can post whatever poor taste, opinionated, bollox you like as long as its lawful.

The only reason for my original post, was that much of the offending material had been removed and lots of people were none the wiser as to what all the fuss was about.

Ric's point about going elsewhere sounds like a good idea. Anybody got any suggestions? Obviously not Mumsnet after the last unpleasantness.

Let's find another forum and have our offensive banter on there. When we get banned from that, move on to the next. We can be like OffensoGypsies (no offense meant to the gallant Romany folk I'm not allowed to dislike due to their cultural status) moving from camp to camp and leaving a trail of distaste and rubbish wherever we've been.

You can then try to set up your own forum without the relevant paperwork and complain when you are told to take it down.
  • Chasey is giving you all the ammunition you need to get rid of him. I've made complaints to Jeff Jones about him, and his arbitrary breaking of the rules, and the snide bullying emails he sends asking people to 'rein in' their comments about him. If you dont complain about him then you have no real complaint if he gets away with bending the rules to suit himself.

You could cut him some slack and say he's a mummys boy still living his life from uni books - but the other mods arent half as bad - and they've been mods longer and, especially in the crudcatcher, have to deal with a lot worse than the cobblers written in the road section.

Like I say i've complained and jeff jones hasnt had the decency to respond -hardly surprising since he himself has made ill advised comments on a post about rape- still I'll continue avoiding chaseys posts.

Or we could all go round to aggieboys house at least he has been true to his word.

I think in this particular case Rick was reacting to complaints made due to the racism shown by Pinarello001. Fair point in my opinion - racism has no place anywhere...not even the Bottom Bracket.
