Road - Dolan Preffisio
MTB - On-One Inbred
I have no idea what's going on here.0 -
396th now, how much time must some of these people spend on their bikes for Gods sake! "You only need two tools: WD40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't, use duct tape"0

There's 2 pros round my way, and they spend 3 to 4 hours a day out there, whatever the weather. Bit of a pain in the ass actually, as one keeps nicking my KOM's!0
-
The leading guy in my 55 to 64 age group has done 1000 already... Depressing0
-
6457 overall and 313 in age group... Yippee!0

The top guy has only done just over 1000 miles0 -
if it helps you to feel better;
one thing to remember is that January in Australia is a bit like August in Europe, so some of these guys are on holidays. there is also extra motivation because the European based pros are back home and the tour down under is about to start.regards,

And they have to ride like the clappers to avoid all those bush fires...0

I'm just outside the top 1,000 at 330 miles. Last year I didn't hit 300 miles in a month, let alone 10 days so Strava motivation must be working. Weather permitting I'm aiming to hit 400 by Sunday.
Very supportive wife - or maybe she just doesn't like me being around the house?Summer: Kuota Kebel
Winter: GT Series30 -
typical for soemthing good like that to appear for me to test my strava teeth on when im off to the uk for a weeks holiday! hey ho will do the next one. Very clever programme that not used it much but seems very clever, trouble for mallorca seems all the segments have over 1000-2000 people to contend with!0

Current Rank 1260/25978 with 316 miles.0

Damn it's hide but at least it's getting me out when I otherwise wouldn't. Amazing how those tens turn into twenties, twenties into thirties and thirties have to add on a bit of a loop... Really stoopid cos I'm over 1000 miles behind even in my age category.0
-
i'm currently at 264 miles with 16,240ft of climbing.ribble sportive for the black stuff
Canyon Strive AL 8.0 for the brown and green stuff.0 -
Have currently logged 0 miles on strava which hopefully puts me quite close to the top of the "not interested in willy waving" category.0
-
Now that would be an interesting idea for feb... The least number of base miles0

Agreed, it does seem to motivate, its even got me thinking about trying to improve on last years individual monthly totals.
First time I can remember seeing snow on the ground and wishing it away so I can get out on the bike.0 -
The guy in 14th is based in Dorchester !!! and looking at his rides they're either on the rollers or out on the roads - must have lots of time on his hands!0

It's a bit of both if you look at his stats. The bloke has done some massive rides with loads of climbing so respect is certainly due...but his mileage is not all real mileage, for example he spent about 4 hours one day on his rollers and yet manages to log that as 200km of riding. I just don't get how/why people track roller/turbo riding as miles as it takes no account of resistance. I could just wind resistance down to minimum, stick the bike into top gear and crack off a "100 miles" in a couple of hours.0 -

Agreed on that one. No way should rollers/turbo count, it's just not real miles. Kudos for those who get out there in the crappy rain and cold and do the real stuff.
Don't want to kick a hornet's nest here either, but IMO, miles ridden in a group should have 30% knocked off them; it's a damn sight easier than riding solo.0 -

I don't think they should count either - it should only be 'road' miles.0 -
the rules on strava clearly state that turbo miles count.
let's not get all bent out of shape about this - the purpose is all about building base mileage so that you will will be fitter and stronger for Spring and Summer (if it arrives this year). there is no yellow jersey at stake - and a good thing too, otherwise the subject of doping would be added.....regards,
