I wonder how much of a calming effect the video camera had on the driver? He seems very aware of the camera's presence while talking...
Now personally, as the car seems to have been alongside for some seconds and moved over to go through the gap, I would have been anticipating him turning left across me and taken evasive action - like braking a bit and letting him in. I'd rather keep him in full view and know where he's going than take on several hundred kilo's of metal in my lycra if he didn't know I was there, or had assumed he'd passed me as cyclists always go slowly(!) - my BSM Drive and Survive course (defensive driving) is useful on two wheels as well as four - arriving a few seconds late is better than not arriving...
I'm no longer a full time commuter, but have done thousands of commuting miles and always take this approach0 -

cyclist should have just ceded to the car and slowed down to let him overtake...sure that wouldnt be technically right but the road layout was a nightmare for non bus lane users, and a bit of common sense, from the 'i must exert my equal rights on the road at whatever cost helmet cam warrior' would have avoided the situation.
I agree, personally I would have just slowed and let him through, can't see the point of turning every little altercation into a full blown row just seems silly. Neither car or bike was going particularly fast, road was busy and difficult why just make life more confrontational, just ends up with everyone in a foul mood.0 -
Can't get any sound on this at work but it looks like the guy in the Audi is being a bit of a tw@ Driving towards a bike like that is bloody dangerous, I never understand why people feel the need to actually try and kill people in cars! I would have at least punched the side of his car but I'm not used to all this aggressive city riding, don't know what the normal protocol is!
Just like to say not all drivers of black Audi A4's are w@nkers, I'm very courteous to cyclists and mine doesn't understeer too bad for a front wheel drive car, for a big car like that it's quite chuck-able ;-)0 -
I can guarantee it does, you've just not driven it hard enough. Audi seem to like sticking the engine as far forward as possible.0
