this - because doctors and surgeons and nurses are sh1t hot and deserve so much more than we give them.

I wouldn't be quite that gushing - the non-urgent stuff can be a bit hit and miss - but credit where it's due.

Did anyone watch the Bros reunion documentary over Xmas? It was unintentionally hilarious, cringey and tragic all at once. Think Spinal Tap, David Brent and Alan Partridge levels of crassness and characters utterly devoid of any self awarenes, except this was actually real people who weren't acting out a script. It was compelling viewing but I felt a little bit dirty after watching it through my fingers. Here are two of the best quotes:. "
The letters H.O.M.E. are so important because they personify the word home.” Matt Goss

“I made a conscious decision because of Stevie Wonder not to be superstitious.” Matt Goss.

Watch it, you won't be disappointed.

Seriously? Did you watch it deliberately or did you wake up and it was on the screen? Bros? FFS!!

Had a manager who was exactly like David Brent, he even looked like him, but the most annoying thing about him was that everyone let on they liked him and his old crass stupid jokes mainly cos if he caught on you didn't like him or made him look the slightest bit silly intentionally or unintentionally, you were out the door. He knew I was one of the few that hated him but I was too much use to him -- ( I left as soon as I got another job sorted ) so I can't watch this office type comedy cos it wasn't funny at the time I was living it.

No it ain't and it wasn't funny. I found office environments far worse than the school playground.

We're having a blast here at the Grand Massif. Snow not the best - mostly neige de culture, as they say in France, until you get over 1600m or so - but more than good enough.
As for me, it's the first time I've been skiing in years when I haven't been held back by the dodgy hip, so I'm loving it.
Where are you headed? Somewhere high I hope.

Anyway, just off to catch the first lift...

He must be devastated, having to work from home, that well worn euphemism for having the day off.

Enjoy Bomp and hope the hip doesn't start acting up. I missed a season last year due to a ripped shoulder tendon and was mightily hacked off.

I'm off to Chamonix a week on Monday, though if the lower slopes are a bit iffy we'll just head over to Argentiere which goes up to 3,300m and you only need to go below 2,000 on the last run down to the village.

I like Alpe D'Huez but haven't been for ages.

At the risk of mentioning the B-word in here, it may be worth checking how long you have left on your passport...

You wanna be careful with that skiing stuff; don't come running to me if you break your leg.

A rather large owl flew low across my path in Bushy Park, luckily far enough away not to make me jump. A little further on there was a pool of light ahead, but I couldn’t figure out what the person was doing. I could see strange flashes and it looked like someone flailing about. As I passed I realised it was someone on those roller cross country skis. Did make me laugh.

I've not broken any bones in 40 years of skiing so feeling pretty comfortable I won't need to use my holiday insurance. Although tbh you weren't top of my emergency contacts list.

Writing this post from Clermont Ferrand having watched a fantastic game of rugby, eaten some superb French food, watched a proper French public demonstration (the gilet jaunes !) and driven on almost completely empty roads.

Any of these of themselves would have cheered me up but when taken together, well what a spectacularly good weekend!

They saved us a fairly chunky autoroute toll on the way to the Alps, probably €15 out so, by protesting at and disabling one of the péages.

Also noticed that all the speed cameras on the D941 between Limoges and Clermont-Ferrand had been wrapped in black shrink wrap!!

Helping my eldest son replace the radiator in his car. Due to seized bolts, we had to cut it out.

    1. It's been a while, but I can still do it
    2. He's capable and just gets on with it.
    3. He still appreciates my help
    4. It was a success.

All those meant that although we were working in the open on his drive and it was 10:30 last night when we finished, I drove home with a smile.

The older I get, the better I was.

Very good. He'll be able to tell his grandkids about the day he changed his cars radiator and then explain to them what a radiator is and anyway shouldn't the vehicle pool have just sent a replacement vehicle over?
