Have you ever thought of getting a tandem MF?

MF has one in the loft - steel retro Peugeot job that needs a total rebuild. It's going to be his retirement project. I and I can't wait to see him crash it ibto a hedge.
Quick tandem Q, MF (and open to all, I guess) : MrsBBGeek is continually perplexed by tandem riders where the female part is at the back. She posits this - the brains of the outfit i.e. the woman should be up front, and the (invariably male, but doesn’t need to be, I suppose) powerhouse, i.e. the stoker at the back. Now I don’t mind staring at the captains back all day, but what say you, as a person already double-crewed?

Once, and only once, I rode a tandem with Mrs Bomp (hired in Padstow on holiday).
With me up front, we made pretty steady progress. When we tried a change, despite the pleasant view, it wasn't good - I wrenched the rear bars completely out of shape as soon as we wobbled slightly.

    Excellent.

The signs telling people about a 50 grand fine or 5 years in the slammer for fly tipping have reduced the problem in one place not too far from me.

This is fantastic. The amount of other people's cr4p I find at my site entrances is unbelievable sometimes. It's so bad our local managers have to keep a skip at their office and do regular collections. I'd love to catch someone in the act

I'm not sure which I find worse - the deliberate, premeditated flytipper or the mindless coke-can-out-the-car-window type.

It utterly depresses me riding along roads with contiuous litter strewn across the verges. Which means all of them.

Not at all. It's not everybody throwing the occasional bit of rubbish. It's the same people doing it repeatedly. It's a lazy and selfish act so it's safe to assume these people are generally lazy and selfish so society would be better off without them.

I find the more remote they are the more likely they are to have someone's bathroom fittings in or a load of plaster board

In some ways I object more to the smokers who don't throw away the cans of coke, but do throw away all their cigarette butts thinking that they don't count as litter. At least the coke can thrower makes no pretence at being a decent person, and it is slightly easier for someone to pick up after them (not that they should have to). London parks are covered in cigarette butts which are really hard to clean up.

He's been quiet lately, has he managed to get himself banned or just got bored? Maybe he's just been locked up for contempt of court. Also, what happened to Coopster?

Off to Belgium tomorrow early doors for a grand long weekend. Hire bikes sorted for Friday, sit up n beg types but necessary as all the non-cycling partners are joining in. Easy day of pootling and beer bars beckons.

Slowly, slowly, catchee... one day it'll be the Muur...

Sounds great. You can't beat a good pootle down bike lanes going from cafe to cafe. Where are you hiring the bikes from?

These'll literally be pub hacks we hire from one of the hotels in Poperinge where we are staying. As there will be 6 of us with 2 non-cyclists pace will be dictated by the slowest... Done this couple of times before, no real point in taking over good bikes with us when we pootle.

We plan to head over to Ieper and visit the CWxRM Coming World Remember Me land art installation of the 600,000 clay figurines, WWI remembrance, there was helicopter shot of that on Gent Wevelgem this year I think... Then bars multiple no doubt. Guess will take us all day to do 50km but this is a weekend off :)

Not sure if I have mentioned this already but I heard them talking about a brain cancer cure on the radio yesterday, they had given it to a ‘36 year old cat, Charles.’

Turns out it was '36 year old, Kat Charles'.

This cheered me up, although I feel a bit sad that there isn't a really old cat with a cured brain tumour...

I see what you did there.
    And it cheered me up.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.
