On the subject of honesty, that's what got me back on a road bike. I'd graduated from a cheap MTB to a dearer one when the kids were growing up and loved hacking round forest trails etc, and then stuck some slicks on it when I found myself doing more solo riding and mainly on road. I thought I was flying, when one day I was overtaken by an elderly gent on a classic steel road bike. WTF?? He didn't even appear to be putting much effort in. So I naturally assumed that it was my bike holding me back, and treated myself to a shiny new road bike for my 50th birthday.

And then I discovered that the thing holding me back was in fact me. Going fast on a road bike required fitness and stamina I didn't possess. Bloody hell, it was hard work, but I was hooked again. 10 years on I'm the fittest 60 year old I know, but to be honest, hardly any faster than I was on the old MTB :D

MF likes to do it sitting up and saying a cheery hello. He generally finds them to be members of cycling clubs who think they are PRO because they have just overtaken someone on a bicycle.
I like to do it on my hybrid. They tend to get really annoyed about that, but then again they are usually miserable farts.
I'm usually the one being passed whilst blowing out my beeehind. If passing a fat bloke gives you a buzz, then fair play. I'm just happy to be out :D
    I missed the smiley :)

A 52 yo accountant on a hybrid is not going to be a threat to Chris Froome but it's fun passing a few FKWs who are even slower than me and watch them step it up a gear in response.

Oh, do tell, where are you?
Our tent caravanserai is heading off soon, and one of my very small pleasures is watching Mrs BBGeek checking guy ropes etc while I supervise with a can of beer.

The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

I'm sure I saw it mentioned recently, but the increasing desperation of the various companies as they get ready for May 25th is bringing a smile to my face. Lots of emails today.

I recall when the last lot of legislation came in (pre-internet), getting increasingly indignant letters from my bank on the lines of...

"If you don't fill this in and return it to us, we will no longer be able to tell you our latest offers".

Good, that's you sorted then :)

The kids going out and me being allowed to watch the Grand Prix on the "family TV".

(I don't like cars, or find F1 particularly interesting...it just looks good on a big TV!)

That's how this lot seemed to start, but lately I've been getting emails from companies who I defnitely didn't give consent to be spammed saying "we assume you're happy for us to keep spamming you. If not please get in touch"

I had 4 from Virgin Trains today to the same email address   (something about never hearing anything then 4 turn up at once...)

Which is exactly what they're not allowed to do. They have to have your consent, not just give the option to opt out.

Got this in an email the other day:

"Do you know a good GDPR consultant"
    "Yes"
"Can I have his email address?"
    "No"

    Made me chuckle anyway.

    Also this doing the rounds:
    He's making a list
    He's checking it twice
He's gonna find out who's naughty or nice
Santa Claus is in contravention of article 4 of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679

There was also a good article in the Graun saying basically that either
    a) if you gave your consent previously, they don't need to email you to ask again
    b) if you didn't, it's against the law to email you again

So basically, absolutely nobody should be sending you these emails :?

No. He only uses Red or D/A as he is a supreme cyclist.

Means that winter bike can now be fully rebuilt in time for the summer. I and I is very content.

The batting has been an issue for over two years now, largely because they can't find an opener to partner Cook. Plus Cook himself won't be around much longer so what happens then I don't know. Credit to Pakistan for today too though but as you say, no real cheer so far.

MF has one in the loft - steel retro Peugeot job that needs a total rebuild. It's going to be his retirement project. I and I can't wait to see him crash it ibto a hedge.
