I thought The Very Hungry Caterpillar was RJS's suggestion for Rick's new PC game for a moment

When you say a 'PC' game....

£350 on Premium Bonds this month. I know I'd probably get a similar rate on a decent savings account, but it still cheers me up.

If you have £50k in there, then that is the equivalent of 8.5% pa tax free, so better than a savings account.

Would be if it were every month. Sadly, not the case. I think it's around 5% now.

I got lucky before and after Christmas. £10275 and then £575 this time.😁

Now I'm cheered for you, but not so cheered about my measly £350.

Oops, earlier in the year I 'won' £1250 too. Just waiting for the big one now, but that couldn't be posted in a trivial thread.

No wonder I had a month with nothing, nada. They're saving it all up for you.

If it all evens out, I'll expect 11 months straight of 'Sorry no prizes this month'

Funny. Don't you remember the PC game?

No. The last one I played was Frogger on the BBC Micro I was supposed to be writing my dissertation on.

I played lunar landing on the BBC micro. You had to land a spacecraft (triangle) and not use up too much fuel or go to fast.

Finding good cheap replacement pince nez on Amazon to stick on my phone case. Lifesaver when I've not got proper glasses with me. The old ones were shagged. Just disappointed I've not yet restarted a craze for them in France. Or Topsham, for that matter.

It's just a matter of time before you are selling merch.

Maybe I need to commission @pinno to design a wind-up Lego trumpeting cyclist kit.

Bristol house prices remaining fairly buoyant... at last my late mum's house should be auctioned next month (long story), but the three-year delay shouldn't have come at too great a cost, if this Telegraph report is to be believed. Still, was a pity not to get in during the pandemic when it was red hot. Ho hum.

Obviously I only posted that to wind RC up about inheritance.

How about 'Candyfloss'?
A mildly diverting game, teaching entry-level economics to secondary school children.

Love the way an annual fall of around 1% is called a ‘slump’ especially when the previous year’s rise was over 7%

Yes, indeed. My bigger worry was that there would be little activity going on, but I think with the probable turn-around in interest rates, and the interest in family houses in Bristol, I hope it shouldn't be a difficult one to sell. As long as it meets the reserve I'll be happy, and anything above that will be a bonus. Well, it's all a bonus, I suppose, and (non-trivially, and to annoy RC even more) should allow me to reduce my work commitments somewhat and spend more time in France rather earlier than I anticipated.

So BT, are you one of thae inflooencers then?

Nah, just got quite a few old French women looking at photos taken by a slightly younger male cyclist with a camera. Can't see me ever influencing anyone, other than pupils, who pay for the service.

Should set up and Onlyfans page and monetise your slow cycling legs.
0 -
Given that that seems to be their only speed these days, they ain't gonna get any fast legs.

Getting around to doing the tax return, draft version so far, and finding that the tax due sum appears as £0.76... 🤔
Of course it's this tax year 23/24 not 22/23 that the liars are
cuttingincreasing taxes by reducing the dividend allowance.0 -
The psychology of tax rebates is funny. I got all excited at my £3k odd rebate until I realised a big portion of it is money I had already factored in getting back as it was payments into the wife's pension.
