It cheers me up that I can enjoy music by musicians whose politics I don't agree with. I might have a much shorter play list otherwise :)

As in no one other than Rod Stewart. Oh wait a minute even he’s gone to the dark side.

I have never understood what you boomers saw in Rod Stewart...

Was it just that he was an 80's Harold Styles type thing?

If you are referring to me I’ve never bought a Rod Stewart record. I know he was in the Small Faces but they were sh!t as well.

Harry Styles is far more talented than Rod ever was. Think he was mainly popular with the ladies, not sure why but then I’m not a Boomer either so don’t get it. Maggie May is OK but can’t think of one other half decent song and the Small Faces were far better than Faces.

What if you're Gen X? That said, not a Rod Stewart fan.

That's more like it. (Although ironically he is a Boomer so will be first against the wall come the Ricktopian revolution).

Following the Pinno Lego stuff, I happened to find myself watching Lego Masters Australia yesterday as it came on after something the wife was watching. It really is incredible what people can come up with and then build. They had a cut away challenge and the example was a cruise liner which, when they turned it around, had all the internal cabins complete with mini figures. I couldn't watch for long so didn't see the stuff they built for the challenge unfortunately.

Although impressive, static models don't really do much for me and with more time (unlike the show), people are building amazing city scapes with working trains, buses, lights, sky scrapers.
These are the guys that created a huge shortage of Lego during lockdown.
I use Brick Owl for new and used Lego. It's very economical to source Lego this way and during this time, basics were just unavailable. Damn city folk.

I was given a nice rapha windblocker jumper - a sort of hybrid casual cycling top.

Lovely gift, though I was a little sceptical of its use as often these hybrid things end up being inappropriate for all occasions.

Anyway, I went out for drinks over the weekend in the evening so I thought I'd try it.

I stuck a warm baselayer underneath and went out with it in sub 5 degrees without a coat or another layer on the bike.

It worked perfectly. I was warm on the bike without getting hot and I was warm and comfortable in the bar.

    Win win.

Only draw back is it's a little rustly, but only if you're rubbing your chest or belly a lot, which I'd hope is not an issue.

I think you would qualify for inclusion in Rustler - I think that's a magazine for people with Rapha gear, though my memory might be mistaken.

With VO2 max getting discussed elsewhere this cheered me up. The number itself doesn’t seem much but I do like the description (appreciate Garmin just makes an estimate but I get very similar results using a bleep test or Cooper’s test as well)

Nice. I scored that when I was commuting every day plus club runs in my 20s, so that’s very good going!!

    This cheered me up!

My biggest issue is that I don't seem very efficient and it doesn't convert into performance. I suppose there's also an element of self-selection as the others who race regularly in my age group are also in the 5% with quite a few of them the annoying PB types with even higher levels.

FWIW, I think the racing level in cycling is ludicrously high.

After 3 months of taking running a bit more seriously, I got to 54 last month - and by serious, I mean 2-3 runs per week with some structured intervals etc, got my 5K pb down to 20:15 (so comparatively slow). As per the other thread - a lot of it just comes down to physiology.
