    @Pross

    Try to find a Facebook page for them, and give them grief on there. It will be sorted in no time.

    Just checked, they have one. :)

    The older I get, the better I was.

    Or Twitter. Have had some very rapid responses there if you make the complaint a public tweet rather than a private message. It's actually why I signed up to Twitter in the first place.

    All sorted and got a room in my original hotel. The receptionist didn’t know why we’d been rebooked and said there were two rooms available for us to change back. She spoke to a colleague to try to work out what the issue was and was then obviously reminded about “the flood” apparently it had been very bad and is still affecting some areas. There is building work going on so who knows, just glad to get it sorted easily once face to face.

    Turns out the flood was genuine. The floor we’re on stinks of damp at the lift end. Luckily we’re at the far end and it’s fine down here so apologies to Premier Inn for doubting them. Customer services needs sorting out though.

    ...and the suggestion that you should pay more for the inconvenience.

    Perhaps if you Tweet them a pithy summary, making it clear you're not after anything other than better customer services, they might (and ought to be) grateful that you've taken the time.

    The last two paragraphs of this article sum up why I’m really not convinced about electronic shifting.

    I don’t doubt for one second, it’s nice to use most of the time. I just don’t see a significant enough advantage.
    I know I’d have rides when it wasn’t charged (it happens with my computer) and the fact that it doesn’t always do what you want, just seems a pain. Admittedly seconds don’t really matter to me as much as they did to Hayter. But I hear plenty of rides spolied through problems. I’ve only ever had one gear cable break.
  • Picking up what I thought was a sealed packet of spaghetti, only to find that it had been opened, and the open end was pointing at the floor.

    Must practise the Horizontal Spaghetti Technique from now on.

    Scoring one of my best results on pop master including all 3 bonus questions but not concentrating at the start and missing the first two questions that are usually fairly easy. Would have had 33 if I'd got those two which would definitely been my best ever score.

    First round: sinead O'connor only number one, and which group had a single and album called Avalon.

    I'd give you those two..

    Round two: who did this years uk eurovision song, spaceman, and Les McKeown was lead singer of which 70s band.

    First - I would guess Nothing Compares 2U and Roxy Music for those two?

    I heard the second round, I got Sam Ryder but not Bay City Rollers. Didn't do well on that one with only 12 points (Sam Ryder, 1983 for the year and the last bonus question).

    Getting a electricity bill from Octopus for the 27-29th September 2021 charging me for usage of 415KWh's over that period. Only trivial as it was fairly easy to sort once I managed to get someone on the phone, but still.....

    Obviously those toys where children have to slot shapes into the right holes need to include the extra challenge of matching colours too.

    Shh! There'll be traffic jams there now, and people trying to steal the art... all you need to do is to suggest that Banksy is trying something slightly different...
  • The club hill climb costing £12 for 5/6 minutes of riding. It used to be a club event at normal club TT rates (£3-4, or close), but now it's an open event, the cost has shot up.

    Though I guess it hasn't put many people off, as there was a good entry today, and it looks like the club put on a good show for them.

    Saw similar on some block paving near Templemeads the other day. It had a cycleway marking on it originally that had been relaid as an abstract image. At least that one would have been more complicated to get right than rotating a manhole cover though.

    Annoy? Yes a bit. Intrigue? Yes a bit. Post it here...

    Roger Waters, he of Pink Floyd original fame, has demonstrated a significant degree of serious prickness.

    That stunt is going to cost him, big time!
    The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
    I am not sure. You have no chance.

    Too right. He has just burnt to pieces his persona. Recent ads out for his 'final' tour. That'll go well. Typing this as a Floydian.

    Peterborough living up to its reputation;

    More to do with who creates the cycle routes if you ask me.
    I've been down some that are entirely unsuitable for road bikes.
