Not sure where to put this... I won't be sending many Christmas cards this year.

Well, I never do, but it might be even fewer now.

Basically same pricing as a parcel.

Still better value than all the other carriers. Given their charter to deliver to every address in the UK for the same price it's not bad

That might cost me an extra pound a year.

That's 'cos you're a miserable git. Nothing to do with the price.
Anyhoo, get your act together and buy a stack of 2nd class stamps @ 66p each.

Only for this Christmas - the ones without a price on are becoming unusable next year.

This was a concern for me as I overbought a batch for last Christmas. (100+ remaining).
FYI - The previous version can be swapped for the new ones at a post office.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

    No mention of charges.

"Non-barcoded stamps can be used as postage up until 31 January 2023. If you are able to use them within this time - that's great. If you aren't going to be able to use them up — that's fine too — you can send them in to us and we'll swap them out for barcoded stamps. Our 'Swap Out' scheme will open on 31 March 2022 and you can pick up a 'Swap Out' form from your local Delivery Office's Customer Service Point; print one off our website; or contact Customer Experience and we'll post one out to you. Please note swap out forms are not available at Post Offices."

I once wanted to buy a lot of stamps as an inflation hedge. Glad I didn't now as I imagine it would be tricky to swap that many.

Giving blood. The main donation centre seems to be 20 minutes behind schedule by 10am. Don't love needles but by main annoyance is how long this always takes.

The ubiquitous use of the phrase “off-ramp”

"Double down" also falls into this category, I feel. Barely a press conference goes by without it creeping in.

The ubiquitous use of the phrase “off-ramp”

In what context? I've never heard it used other than to mean the exit slip road on a motorway (and even then not very often). Is this another one of the weird bits of slang the people you deal with seem to always being coming up with?

It's been used a lot lately in relation to Putin's options for withdrawal from Ukriane . . .

    ". . . offering Crimea and the Donbass could provide an off-ramp for Putin . . ."

Ah, politician speak (which is usually something they've belatedly picked up from management speak). I'd literally never heard it used until Rick mentioned it though.

2 sayings that seem to have crept into modern use.

"Give your head a wobble" - mainly because of its overuse by people discussing football on the internet.

"Different gravy", just because there seems a correlation between its use and the person using it being someone I take an irrational (or sometimes rational) dislike of.

Pleased to say I can't remember either being used on these forums prior to this post.

A group of European politicians voted Zelensky for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Now, I'm not gonna sit here and slate the guy off - he's literally a hero - but surely a Peace Prize for being the leader of an invaded country and leading the fight back is not really appropriate for a peace prize?

It's virtue signalling. I think locking more than three Russian banks out of swift would be a better use of their consciences.
